Several Oklahoma players and coaches appear on rosters for schools at Wichita Regional

WICHITA -- Don't be surprised if Arizona's Brad Glenn has a big performance in the Wichita Regional. Glenn always seems to save his best for the biggest stages.

As a football player at Union High School in the fall of 2004, Glenn scored three touchdowns against Jenks in the 6A championship game. As a Redskin baseball player in the spring of 2005, Glenn hit a home run and got a save in the 6A title game against Owasso.

"Oh man," said the former Tulsa World player of the year, "just trying to do my job."

In his second year at Arizona, Glenn has blossomed into a star. His .355 batting average, 17 doubles and 60 RBIs rank second on the team, and his home run total of 10 ranks third.

"It's going great," Glenn said. "This year, it's starting to fall into place."

Glenn committed before his senior year, so ORU coach Rob Walton didn't recruit him.

"He's a (heck) of a player," Walton said. "Good kid. Plays hard. It's good to see the hometown kids, no matter where they go, it's good to see them play well."

Glenn said playing against ORU on Friday is "a neat deal" because he'll be playing against a handful of players he competed against in high school, such as ORU's Joe Patterson (Owasso), Michael Lamb (Bixby) and Marcus Tackett (Memorial), and Wichita State redshirt Kyle Sisney (Broken Arrow). He also played with ORU's Stephen Pearson last year at Arizona.

As usual, Wichita State's roster is sprinkled with Oklahomans, starting with head coach Gene Stephenson (Guthrie) and pitching coach Brent Kemnitz (Perry).

Blake Hurlbutt (Enid), Tyson Fugett (Bartlesville) Clinton McKeever (Oklahoma City) and Tyler Hill (Lawton) are reserves. Junior Matt Brown (Oklahoma City Capitol Hill) leads the team with 66 games played and has a .315 batting average with eight homers and 56 RBIs. Senior Noah Booth (Westmoore) leads the team with 28 appearances and a 1.13 ERA. Sisney and Tim Kelley (Bishop Kelly) are redshirting. Three others from Oklahoma -- including player of the year Pete Kozma (Owasso) -- are signed on for next year.

I wonder if Brad Glenn is related to the Redskins' basketball player Justin Glenn, that signed to play for Centenary next year.  Obviously no mention of it in the article.  Justin's dad is an ORU grad.  Would have been nice to get Brad to ORU if that was the case.
