Turek to Have WNBA Tryout

Looks like new Sky coach/GM Bo Overton is putting his time in the Mid-Con to good use:

TULSA, Okla. ? Former Oral Roberts University standout Elisha Turek (Council Bluff, Iowa) has been invited to a free agent training camp tryout with WNBA?s Chicago Sky on April 22.

Turek capped a record breaking four-year career with the Golden Eagles by leading ORU to its second NCAA Tournament appearance in the last three years and a 22-11 overall record. She earned Mid-Con Tournament MVP honors, Mid-Con Player of the Year, and was named Mid-Con All-Conference First-Team all four years. 

?We are all extremely happy about her (Turek?s) opportunity to try out for this professional organization,? said head coach Jerry Finkbeiner.

The forward became the Mid-Continent Conference?s first player and ORU?s second player to record over 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in a career. The senior finished her illustrious career with 2,046 and 1,167 rebounds. She finished her career ranking third on the school?s all-time scoring list and first in rebounds.

?She is very deserving of this chance and continues to put effort in her workouts to prepare for this opportunity. Turek has been great for our program because of her hard work, leadership, and the high goals she set for the team and herself,? said Finkbeiner.
