Anyone know anything about the World Cup?  I do not but picked up Sports Illustrated, which tells about all the teams.  USA ranked 16th, so guessing there odds of winning are pretty low but maybe they can make a run.

USA playing Paraguay in their opener tonight....Americans better win because next first round games vs. Australia and Turkey will be much tougher....it will take at least a win and a tie in those 3 games to advance.....USA has some talent but we just don't have the snipers who can score to challenge the big boys.....TheEagleman has the USA in a parlay tonight.....it's really a must win.....GO USA!!! 🇺🇸

I have been asking some of my sports minded friends this question:  Can you name one player on the USA National team?  I have yet to find someone who could answer the question.  I am not looking for an answer - the internet could provide it with a couple of clicks - I have been trying to get a true measure of interest, despijte all of the marketing hype.

TheEagleman watches...i can pretty much name 90% of the team but agree most cannot.....hoping Pulisic, McKennie and a others will step up for the moment...this is a ONCE IN A LIFETIME opportunity to shine on the world stage in your home country......seize it!! Not sure this team shows the heart and passion needed to make a move to the final 16 or even 8....at least I have not seen that yet....the game last Weekend vs. Germany was encouraging....USA held their own with a Top 10 team for 90 minutes....let's see how they look tonight.....last time we hosted in 1994 our team was very weak but those boys had heart and passion....beat Columbia and tied Switzerland to advance to knockout round vs. Brazil and played them tough in a 1-0 loss......this 2026 team has way more talent but not sure they have the heart....GO USA!! 🇺🇸

World Cup is much like the Olympics, not many in the US follow it but ever 4 years.  I know everyone is different but I find it hard to sit through a 3 hour game, where the score is 2-0.  Yet, millions of people go crazy over it: towns/cities shut down to watch their nations play.  Go figure.

For an alternative perspective - as a millennial from a bigger city, I’d be shocked if any of my friends/the sports fans I know could NOT name at least a couple players, especially Pulisic!!

I agree with Eagleman, USA has their best team in years but there’s too much ego involved. If they somehow make the quarter finals that would be a success!! Spain and France may be a step ahead of the rest of the world, we shall see!

Decided to watch the game and it was a lot more exciting then I thought it would be, as USA scored 4 goals.  FOX broadcaster said that was the most in World Cup history for USA.  Great start for the Americans.

Now THAT'S how you play soccer....great game....great crowd....fantastic effort with lots of passion....hopefully USA can build on that performance and Pulisic injury is not serious....Balogun was fantastic as was McKennie, Renya and Pulisic.....GO USA!!! 🇺🇸

PS....Australia up next on Friday

Well, games are only 90 min so I’m not sure what you’re sitting thru. 🤣

I’m a big fan of the USMNT, and nominally follow soccer at large. So yea, naming the majority of the team is no problem; as well as knowing that two player’s (Reyna and Berlhalter) dads played for the USMNT.
Last night’s game was the best display from our guys in a VERY long time. Besides the 30 sec lapse (after the substitution) when Paraguay scored, it was complete control. Really excited about this team’s potential!

Good point, Texas Grip about 90 minutes.  I guess you can tell that I have not watched soccer in a long time. 😁

TheEagleman not a Huge Lionel Messi fan but geez the guy was amazing with a hat trick last night for Argentina vs. Algeria as he played almost 80 minutes at 39 yrs old......first strike was a laser from 25 yards out...he is now the all time WC goal scorer with 16 but Mbappe of France could catch him this year or certainly in 2030 as that guy is only 27.....the WC action has been fantastic!! ⚽⚽⚽

USA!!! Professionally done today winning 2-Nil without Pulisic. Should only need a tie vs. Turkey and hopefully #10 will be back....⚽🇺🇸⚽

Don't even need the tie as USA has wrapped up Group D with Paraguay's win over Turkey. Rest Pulisic again and sit the players with yellow cards!

Totally agree with Grip....never thought Turkey would lose again but they failed to show up at this WC....USA can rest a lot of starters for the knockout rounds now....we have a great opportunity to make Final 16 or even the Quarterfinals. ⚽️⚽️⚽️

Quite a battle for the Golden Boot... Messi 5....Mbappe 4....Haaland 4 and Harry Kane (2) still to play tomorrow...⚽⚽⚽
