Keenan Henderson Posted April 13 Posted April 13 OKC can repeat but it won't be easy. Spurs have given them a lot of problems in the regular season but are young and may slip up versus Denver. What will Detroit do? They have won a lot of games but much like the Spurs are inexperienced in the playoffs. It will be interesting but going with OKC vs Boston in the finals. Any thoughts?
Keenan Henderson Posted May 17 Author Posted May 17 Not much interest in the NBA playoffs, as the board has been pretty quiet. I guess OKC is just playing with their food at this point and unless another team has an out of body experience (plays A plus level) then they should be 2 time champs.
theeagleman5 Posted May 17 Posted May 17 Spurs could give OKC a battle. NY Knicks look tough to beat in the East.
Bogus Smith Posted May 18 Posted May 18 My guess is OKC wins over the Spurs 4-2; The Knicks will win over the Pistons or Cavs (looking like the Cavs right now). Whoever wins the West, wins the Championship. 1
Keenan Henderson Posted May 18 Author Posted May 18 OKC vs Spurs is the future of NBA basketball, it may turn into a Celtics/Lakers type rivalry in the next 10 years. We may be seeing this match up in the Western Conference finals for quite a while. Lay down a bet on it Eagleman.
Keenan Henderson Posted May 19 Author Posted May 19 OKC is having all kinds of trouble with Victor W. How can you have a guy half his size (guard) guard him? On offense they look intimated by the big guy and are struggling making jump shots. I think at some point OKC has to attack him and draw Victor away from the basket or have him pick up some fouls. They can't just leave and die by the jump shot for 7 games. Wemby with an out of body experience game: 41 points and 24 rebounds. He looks like Wilt Chamberlain.
2014Grad Posted May 19 Posted May 19 Spurs with Wembys length has been a problem for the Thunder all season. Hopefully they can pull it out . I actually think the Knicks match up well with the Spurs with their shooting, KATs defense on Wemby and his ability to space (which Chet can’t do as much).
Bogus Smith Posted May 19 Posted May 19 The Thunder/Spurs series could become a classic. Both of these teams are young, fast, and can create their own level of havoc on each end of the court. The Thunder need to have a better shooting night to spread out the Spurs' defense a little. They also need to move Wemby farther from the basket as he has an ability to use his length very well. His logo shot was amazing for a 7'4" guy. I still have confidence that the Thunder can figure this out and win the series, but it may go to seven games (which I'm sure NBC would love). 2 1
Keenan Henderson Posted May 19 Author Posted May 19 Wemby is going to be a problem that OKC has to deal with for many years. He may be the next all time great, barring injury/off court issues. Chet is one who can improve and at least give him some problems. Otherwise OKC may have to bring someone in to help with this issue. They could go after the guy at Michigan who is 7'4 (I think his name is Aday Mara) in this year's draft to help Chet out. 1

They 100% will the same way the Rockets attempted to adjust to Curry or teams to Lebron in the 2010s. I don't think Chet is THE long-term option as Wemby has already done a better job of bulking up the past few years and having his way with Chet. They will need a stronger big like Bam, KAT, Mitchell Robinson. Sam Presti is the best IMO so I'm sure he will figure it out one way or the other.
Idig32 Posted May 19 Posted May 19 It looks a lot like the Denver series last season when Denver stole game 1. If the Thunder can do like they did in that series and win Game 2 on Wednesday, then I think we’re in for a good, competitive series where I think the Thunder’s depth will ultimately prevail.
theeagleman5 Posted May 19 Posted May 19 TheEagleman honestly thinks home court means little or nothing in this series...every game is winnable by either side....and maybe if OKC needs a better center the Thunder might be interested in Embiid during the off season....would be a guy who can push Wemby around but the big fella only can play about 40-45 games per season.....tell the OKC GM to think about it......Embiid for Chet and maybe a toss in or two?? LOL
Keenan Henderson Posted May 20 Author Posted May 20 It will be interesting if SGA can bounce back because he has had a very average playoffs so far. The Spurs are throwing a lot of different guys at him and if he can get by that, then SGA has to deal with Wemby. The Spurs are forcing others to make open 3s, which OKC has to improve on. Spurs are very young and not sure any of there guys have been on this deep of playoff run. Does the pressure get to them as the series goes on or they just playing free because they are really not the favorite this early in there careers. Time will tell.
Idig32 Posted May 22 Posted May 22 The Thunder will probably be without J-Dub for at least the rest of this series I’m assuming. That takes away a pretty important playmaker. Guys like Caruso, Mitchell, Wallace, will have to continue to step up. I also think Wiggins could play a role. The Spurs have been without DeArron Fox and now look like they will be without Dylan Harper. If Fox continues to be out, the Spurs guard depth begins to be really tested. Their primary ball handler without Harper and Fox is Stephon Castle, who, while playing excellent overall, has set an NBA record for most turnovers in the first two games of a playoff series. This series is starting to look like it may be a test of which team has the most depth. If Shai can do what he did last game, then he outscores Wemby and it becomes more about how well the other guys play. I also noticed, and this is something I thought I would try if I were the Thunder’s coach, that the Thunder took whoever Wemby was guarding and had him set a screen for Shai a lot more than game 1. This forced Wemby to come out towards the perimeter to guard Shai. Then, since they were normally so focused on Shai, the screener could slip into the middle of the court, creating an easy pass for Shai to make and giving the other Thunder players an opportunity to attack during the brief moment that Wemby was away from the rim. 1
Keenan Henderson Posted May 23 Author Posted May 23 OKC has done a much better job on Wemby. He is still having good games but not going Wilt on them for 40 and 20. San Antonio is very young but they will win NBA championships in the near future. The Thunder just have so many guys that can hurt you and their bench dominated tonight. 2
Keenan Henderson Posted May 26 Author Posted May 26 NY knicks have won 11 in a row by an average of 24 points, which is some sort of record in the playoffs. I have not watched them but only see the box score, so not completely sure why they are on such a hot streak. Their offense seems to be humming because of a high assist/turnover ratio and have a variety of guys who can hurt you. Interesting to see how they matchup with hopefully OKC but still some work to do for the Thunder.
2014Grad Posted May 30 Posted May 30 We are in for a fun game tonight! I believe Thunder pull it off despite the injuries but we shall see 1
