He was recruited by Mills and eventually ended up signing with Tulsa. He transferred to Iona and didn't get a lot of minutes there. He seemed like a decent player for TU but he was young. We could use a talented big man!

Agreed! I don't know what happened either, but the player was averaging almost 25 minutes per game and NEVER saw the floor in February or March. Whatever it was (i.e., bad defense, bad attitude, bad fill-in-the-blank), it had to have been a major offense. Even Barron saw the floor while being on the end of the bench. However, I always saw Jack engaging with his teammates during games. He continued to be a good teammate - even in the toughest of times. I am sure that there were many life lessons learned during the season, but one thing is for sure.....you better get along with your boss or search for another place to work. 1

What I found interesting - and frankly, a little sad - was how, rather than sulking in full warm-ups near the end of the bench in the final 10 or so games, he was always seated in the middle of the bench with no warm-ups on, looking like he was ready to enter the game at any second. Keenan Henderson Posted March 17 Posted March 17 Chase Martin basically took over Jack Turner's spot in the rotation and seemed like a better fit. Nothing against Jack but Chase is bigger, tougher and plays better defense. He was the glue guy that ORU needed to finish the season on an up swing. Coach said early on that he hoped Jack would be a point guard but he just never seemed to fit that role. It happens.

We could use a talented big man! That's me. I've known his parents for 30 years. Based on my last conversation with his father, I'm not surprised by this news.

No, it's not: ORU's 5 additional wins in the 2-3 weeks were more than anything about WHO and WHERE the games were played: 3 of 5 wins over hapless Kansas City; all wins vs. bottom half of conference standings, all but one win at home or on a neutral floor. Everyone seems to forget about the losses to SDSU, Omaha and NDSU during this so-called "coming together" at season's end. I would venture to say that Ty Harper returning to form following his mysterious disappearance from the starting line-up in January, coupled with Luke Gray's extended minutes and growing confidence, were much more positive factors than any guard playing 30 minutes with just 2-to-4 points and 1 assist per game to show for it. 1
