The Lady’s are a real bright spot at ORU right now! Congrats to Cophie and her staff for not missing a beat in her 1st season as head coach! Pretty impressive that she lost some key players yet gained some that are very good! This says a lot about their character and ability to recruit quality players! Not an easy task

As it should be.  Omaha is now 2-19, and is yet to earn a D1 victory this season.  But, glad the women protected the Mabee.

The girls' team is doing very well. They shouldn't have lost to NDSU on our home court and will have to steal one in Fargo just to even things up.  SDSU is in a league of their own and will be tough to overcome in Sioux Falls; thus, we either run the table (except for our two remaining games with SDSU) and hope for two bids out of the Summit League this year, or we get a WNIT/CBIT bid to extend the season.

Regardless, we have a very young team. Edwards, Donley, Hartsock, Coons, Holton, Shetlar, and Trusty all have three seasons left after this year. These girls are all gaining real-time experience that will pay dividends for the good of the program.  Hopefully they will be with ORU, but the chances are some could be poached.  We will have Funches, Baldwin, and Gordon next year for sure (one year left).  New recruits Aliyah Duvall, Kaylee Ward, and a girl from Anchorage, AK who's name escapes me are great complements to what we have currently.  We will have to get into the portal if pieces of the puzzle leave; otherwise, we don't have anymore roster spots to fill.

The future is bright for ORU women's basketball.

I am in full agreement with the "future is bright" statement.  However, there was one seismic shift in Summit WBB this weekend, with NDSU beating SDSU in Brookings by the exact same score as the Bizon's 76-68 win at the Mabee Center. SDSU may no longer be alone in their own stratosphere.

There is little dispute that the top four teams this year are the XDSU's, USD, and ORU. While ORU (at 4-2) is currently in fourth place, they are the only team of the four that has already played each of the other three top teams. USD (at 4-1) is tied for second with SDSU, but has yet to play either of the XDSU's and their only loss was against ORU in Vermillion. ORU is in a really good position to capture at least a #3 seed, and maybe even higher if some upsets occur.

The challenge for ORU in recent years (under Coach Musick) is that they always found a way to lose one or two games to far inferior Summit teams at some point in the season. This year, there are FIVE Summit teams that are far inferior than the top 4. From what I've seen so far, Cophie's team is more balanced and better equipped to avoid one of those brutal losses. If so, ORU should be in a very good position by the time it travels to Sioux Falls in March.

Speaking of Coach Musick......Arkansas is 0-5 in  the SEC and all five losses have been blowouts.....tough times in Fayetteville for the Lady Hogs.....😬

Arkansas will be hard-pressed to win a game in the SEC this year.  I am not sure of a team that the Arkansas WBB would be favored.  As usual, cupcakes (scrimmages) are scheduled for the non-conference schedule and then they are unprepared for conference play.  They even lost BIGLY against a Missouri team that Taleyah and Emilee beat soundly in Columbia last year with what Arkansas would have considered an inferior supporting cast.

@MrsSmith showed me the SDSU loss at Brookings this evening.  I was floored.  Maybe NDSU is that good and I just thought that they stole a game in Tulsa.

NDSU is a very good team. So is this ORU women's team that played well enough to beat NDSU and Tulsa at home had they not been hosed by ref bias. - Just go back and look at the box scores.

I watched the practice yesterday and was impressed by the talent and execution. This team is 12 deep with a very high ceiling. This coaching staff has done an awesome job of recruiting  and developing a very young team that continues to improve weekly. Preseason it was hard to imagine this from a team with Jalei as the only returning full-time player.

The women's team is definitely the one to watch this year. And Jalei--even with her injury, she is playing hard and not backing down a bit.

At least one of our basketball teams has stones....well, not literally.....the ORU Men could stand to watch these ladies.....then again, maybe it's just a talent thing.....frankly, TheEagleman expected a down year for the ORU Ladies but they have been a pleasant surprise....this new coach knows her stuff.....I think the Men's coach does also but he's just not got a lot to work with......:tb-white:

I'm remembering that there used to be sort of a rule that when the teams were both at home, the men were expected to attend the women's games, and vice-versa. Do they still tell the players to do that, I wonder. Maybe it was a coach's call. I just remember seeing the players at each other's games.

Several of the Women players and coaches kids sat near us at Saturday's Men's game. I don't think it is mandated.
