ORUTerry
Hardin breaks her foot by LYNN JACOBSEN World Sports Writer 1/11/2007 Standout from Claremore will be out four to six weeks. After an 0-2 start in Mid-Continent Conference play, it didn't seem like it could get any worse for the Oral Roberts women's basketball team. Until Wednesday. Tests revealed sophomore center Jenny Hardin broke two bones in her right foot and is expected to miss four to six weeks. Hardin, the leading scorer in the Mid-Con and at ORU with an average of 17.2 points per game, originally endured the injury last month, but tests didn't reveal the break until Wednesday. The former Claremore star also averages 5.9 rebounds a game. It is a huge blow for the Golden Eagles, picked to win the Mid-Con regular-season title. "She had a big part of everything we did," ORU coach Jerry Finkbeiner said in a phone interview. "She was our best outside threat and our best defender. We'll go into survival mode." Finkbeiner said the staff suspected something was amiss after Hardin missed all of her 3-point attempts the last two games. "We never knew (of the injury) because of the physical and mental toughness Jenny possesses, she didn't once complain of any pain," the coach said in the press release. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lynn Jacobsen 581-8461 lynn.jacobsen@tulsaworld.com
