ORU (#4 Seed) - Stillwater Regional

Dallas Baptist falls to Charlotte 5-2 in Sunday’s C-USA title game; pretty unlikely they would earn a regional now, even if Oklahoma State loses as well today.

FYI:  All 16 regional sites will be announced Sunday evening by the NCAA, but I can't find a specific time.

Guessing it will be between 6pm to 8pm Central time...

I agree.  DBU’s 2-7 record against Q1 opponents probably did them in.  Unfortunately, that also opens the door for the Patriots to be the 2 seed in Stillwater, and a potential first round matchup with 3 seed ORU.

The 16 sites are out:  Fayetteville and Stillwater the only ones nearby.

The SEC gets EIGHT sites. #smh

One curious site I don’t remember seeing in any of the projections:  Terry Haute (IN) for Indiana State.

  • Fayetteville AR
  • Stillwater, OK
  • Baton Rouge, LA
  • Lexington, KY
  • Gainesville, FL
  • Tuscaloosa, AL
  • Nashville, TN
  • Auburn, AL
  • Columbia, SC
  • Winston-Salem, NC
  • Charlottesville, VA
  • Clemson, SC
  • Coral Gables, FL
  • Stanford, CA
  • Conway, SC
  • Terre Haute, IN

NOTE:  Auburn is the only host not in the top 16 of the RPI. They weren’t even in the Top 25 a couple of weeks ago

The chairman of the selection committee?  The athletic director from….Auburn.

Stillwater is the second-most western regional. There’s Stanford, and then a 1,665 mile gap. 😳

Membership has it’s privileges.

A bit surprised OSU gets to host after losing the Big XII tournament but I guess they were running out of options geographically.

First time since 2013 - and just the second time since the 16-site regional format was adopted in 1999 - that a Texas school is not hosting.

My best guess before the selection show:

1 Oklahoma State

2 Dallas Baptist

3 ORU

4 Sam Houston State

Must be a nice kickback to host a regional.

My guess:

  1. Oklahoma State (12 seed nationally)
  2. SEC team (Texas A&M or Tennessee)
  3. West Coast team (Southern Cal, Cal State-Fullerton, or UC-Irvine)
  4. ORU

4-seed in Stillwater seems most likely. Would love to get a 3 there but the limited number of "western" regionals makes it tough.

Stillwater it is - third time’s a charm.

Pokes can't be happy with that draw......should be a lot of ORU fans in attendance plus a shot at redemption vs. Dallas Baptist.....TheEagleman loves it!! :shield-logo:

Longest current win streak in NCAA D-1 and a 46-11 record....disappointing ORU didn't get a 3 seed but guessing that sweep by DBU probably cost us.......😬

Let’s call it a draw, Blue:  we both got Stillwater, you got DBU as a 2; I got ORU as a 4 and a West Coast team as a 3.

Interesting that they mentioned that OSU and DBU split their series this year, but no mention of ORU sweeping OSU. 😆

When will the game times be announced? - I'm loosely planning on driving over Friday for sure.
