ORU at W. Illinois

ORU (40-11  20-1) finishes the regular season this week at WIU (13-35  9-12) starting on Thursday afternoon.....the Leathernecks are a 1/2 game ahead of Omaha (20-23  8-12) for the 4th and final playoff spot in the Summit League Tournament....so if ORU sweeps WIU it would seem likely that the Mavericks will grab the final spot and play ORU in round one of the Summit Tournament.....i guess it really doesn't matter much but seems like we would rather play WIU than Omaha.....but we can't lay down or play all our underclassman.....still need to run the table for a shot at a #3 seed should we win the NCAA spot.....Omaha would need to win one game at No. Colorado if we take all 3 from WIU......TheEagleman just thinks we should go up there and take care of business...the rest will take care of itself.....let's keep the win streak going!!  :tb-white:

TheEagleman had a dream last night that ORU got a #2 seed......come on, Otis my man.....throw some cold water on my face and wake me up....but damn, we are 40-11 and haven't lost a game since April......hopefully, the Good Guys run the table....and let's see what the NCAA Selection committee does with 46-11???...( I know....it's still a #4).....:oru:

Leathernecks should be motivated to play ORU very hard in this series.....WIU will need at least 1 if not 2 or 3 wins in this series to beat out Omaha for the 4th seed next week in Fargo....the Mavericks are in No. Colorado.....should be interesting....Good Guys on a series roll and haven't lost since back in April.....:tb-blue:

Omaha lost at No. Colorado yesterday so now we have a 3 team race for that #4 seed....if UNC can sweep Omaha and ORU sweeps WIU then the Bears would be our opponent in the first round next week.....so today's games are very important....let's see how it shakes out.....:oru:

So No. Colorado beat Omaha again yesterday and with ORU's 12-2 win over WIU that means that the #4 and final seed in the Summit Tournament comes down to the final day of the regular season.....If Omaha can win then they are in...if not, then the Leathernecks can get in with a win over ORU.....a WIU loss and UNC win puts the Bears in vs. ORU next week in round 1.....crazy stuff.....and TheEagleman takes his hat off to this ORU team that has won 14 in a row and still scrapping like the #1 seed is still on the line...the Good Guys never seem to take a day off.....let's see if our Golden Eagles can head into the tournament on a 15 game winning streak......GO BLUE!!! :shield-logo:

Actually, Western has been eliminated, since they are currently a half game behind Omaha and tied with UNC, but the Bears have the tiebreaker over Western.  So, the Omaha/UNC game is a winner-take-all, with the winning team to play ORU on Wednesday in Fargo.

Thanks for the correction, 82....TheEagleman pulling for No. Colorado today.....geez, what a catch by Cox....he's Willie Mays.....and ORU getting great pitching today as WIU has only 2 hits thru 7 innings....ORU up 8-0 as we head to the 8th in what will be the Good Guys' 15th win in a row......:tb-blue:

And Jonah makes it interesting, getting a hit on his 5th AB to continue the streak!

Jonah is such a class act; with his speed he could have tried to bunt his way on base in his last two at-bats to keep the streak alive, but with such a big lead it might have been considered bush league by the Leathernecks.

Instead he swung away both times, flying out to the outfield in the 6th before perfectly lifting a soft liner to right in the 8th.  Classy and impressive bit of hitting!

And, props to WIU for pitching to him instead of around him (and for their all-around sportsmanship during what had to be a frustrating and disappointing series).

The Leathernecks were very classy on their way out. Battled the right way. Quite a contrast to that kid that shot us the bird at JLJ.
