St. Thomas cannot control the weather, but they do have a nice looking field with an astroturf infield and a natural grass outfield, albeit with a seating capacity of only 250.

Watching the game on the Tommie's stream.  The field looks exactly like the fields my son's travel ball team played on....including the stands!  They have Adam broadcasting underneath an Academy purple canopy which leads me to believe they don't have a press box.

Good guys up 8-2 going into the bottom of the 9th with the bases loaded and 2 outs.  The Tommies walked in three runs but their center fielder robbed Godman of a grand slam or it could have been worse.

True.  But, it also could have been a nail-biter.  The game was tied at 2-2 after seven before two consecutive Golden Eagle three-run outbursts.  I'm expecting the floodgates to open a bit earlier in the two remaining games.

I just checked the weather in St. Paul.  It says thunderstorms possible after 4 pm so maybe we'll get the game in today after all.  Currently only a 15% chance of rain tomorrow.  It they do get rain tonight it will be interesting to see how well that grass outfield drains.  #lifeinthesummit

The Tommies moved the start time up to noon in order to get the game in. Another slow start for the Golden Eagles but they found their stride in the 5th inning scoring at least one run in each of the last 5 innings including 4 crooked numbers.

Jake McMurray remains red hot at the plate with 2 hits, 3 rbis and another home run.

Bring your brooms tomorrow boys!

FYI:  impressive that ORU has scored as many runs as they have so far at cavernous Koch Field, where it’s just 320 down the lines but a whopping FOUR-SIXTY-FIVE to center.

Jonah Cox has been on his horse so far this weekend, running down a variety of deep shots in centerfield. Speed is just as important a weapon in the field as it is on the base paths!

Another factor keeping the scores within the bounds of propriety:  this umpiring crew has so far exhibited strike zones roughly the dimensions of a Coke machine.

Never seen so many called strikes - for BOTH teams!

Yet somehow ORU has drawn 16 walks in the two games. It got so ridiculous that in the final few innings today Adam was chuckling before announcing most called strikes.

The Summit League Tournament will be back in Tulsa where it belongs in 2024.....ORU sweeps the Tommies 8-1 today and now  are 36-11 (19-1).....now on to Wichita where maybe our players can sneak into the WSU employee parking lot and flatten the tires of a certain former ORU Men's Basketball Coach......😉

Congrats to the Coach Folmar and the guys on a Summit League regular season title....but as Coach said on Twitter.....the job is not finished.....let's get the tournament championship and move onto the NCAA Regionals in June.....GO BLUE!!! :tb-white:
