Will NCAA Allow "2nd Time" Transfers To Play? (The Athletic 4_26_23)

FANTASTIC article deserving of its own thread, addressing the question we've all been wondering:  are players who are currently in the process of transfering for a 2nd time (without graduating) bound for a rude awakening once the season starts and the NCAA says they can't play for their new team?

And upon closer inspection, OSU's Mike Boynton coming STRONG with his opinions on the current state of affairs!

To me this sounds like selective outrage. Coach Boynton had no problem requesting; and getting, a waiver from the NCAA to be allowed to play in the big dance a couple years ago with Cade Cunningham despite being banned from post season play that season for rules infractions. But now that he is losing players and his job is most likely in jeopardy if the NCAA grants any exceptions to the transfer rules, they should close their doors.

IMHO the NCAA will allow the waivers as they don't want to litigate the issue as they have been losing in court on a regular basis. The NCAA argument that the old system was "their business model" and the way they have always done things, just hasn't and won't hold up in court. Looking at it from the players perspective, If the coaches can leave for another school at any time without penalty and the coaches can recruit and then run off the players they don't want, why can't the players have the same freedom of movement?

No one likes the current state of college basketball, but I just don't have a lot of confidence in the NCAA to improve things anytime soon. Let's not forget it was the NCAA that changed the rule to allow transfers without having to sit out a year that started this circus!
