Nebraska stuns media-darling and Big East preseason pick Creighton 63-53 Sunday on the Blue Jays' home floor in Omaha in a battle of former Summit League stars:  Sam Griesel (18pts, 12 rebs, 7 assists) once again owning Baylor Scheierman (10 pts, 2-of-9 on 3's).

Rough night for SDSU as they trailed Montana by 35 before closing on a 10-0 run to cut the final margin to 81-56.  Now the Jackrabbits are 3-7 on the year.  Still expect them to be a tough out, once conference season starts.

OU defeated UMKC (now known as Kansas City) 75-53.  The teams were tied at halftime and OU did 22-points better in the second half.

USD loses to Air Force on the road 79-58.

When conference play commences, everyone will be scrapping for a W.

Would it be fair to say that Obanor is the best player to enter the transfer portal former the Summit League so far? Thoughts?

Matt Mooney had a great stint at Texas Tech after leaving South Dakota.

Let’s wait till Sam Griesel (NDSU to Nebraska) and Baylor Schiermann (SDSU to Creighton) are done this year, but Kevin has easily enjoyed the most transfer success thus far, both personally and collectively.

Mooney averaged 11 points on the Tech Final Four team and scored 17 in the game against Gonzaga to send them there.

Obanor has had a successful run at Tech though.

South Dakota State is in a free-fall.  They lost their fourth straight Tuesday night at Montana, by 25 points.

They have traveled a ridiculously constructed non-conference road slate so far (as I noted when their schedule was announced) and fell to 3-7 with just ONE home game so far, back on Nov. 19th.

Preseason Summit League first-teamer Zeke Mayo is enduring a sophomore slump at point guard, and Golden Eagle nemesis Luke Appel has been dealing with injuries.

Unless the Jacks get back on track quickly, ORU may be catching them at the just the right time in a couple of weeks in the Mabee Center.

Who would have thought SDSU and NDSU would be at the bottom of the Summit League and have a combined 5-15 record?  Not many would have predicted that!

Is Grant Nelson for NDSU injured? He hasn't been getting very minutes.

Seems like a typical Summit move for a Dakota team's star player to be MIA during the non conference only to play like a first team candidate during league play.

Let's see how Big 10 officiating reacts to Sam Griesel clearing out the defender with his left arm on EVERY DRIVE TO THE BASKET.

This Saturday marks the first time this season that all ten Summit teams will be facing D1 competition, ranging from faux conference-leader Denver finally facing a non-Quad 4 challenge in the form of KenPom #7 UCLA at Pauley Pavilion, all the way down to battle-hardened UMKC favored at D1 cellar-dweller Wisconsin-Green Bay (KenPom #358).

One game of particular note is SDSU hosting KenPom #93 UC-Irvine.  The Anteaters are favored by 6, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the Jacks benefit from some literal and figurative home-cooking to win this one in Brookings.
