Parada Named National Player of the Week

Tulsa, Okla. -- The Collegiate Volleyball Update (CVU.com) is pleased to announce that Oral Roberts University sophomore Thais Parada has been selected as the CVU.com National Player of the Week for Sept. 4 through Sept. 10.

A 5-8 setter from Sao Paulo, Brazil, Parada led the Golden Eagles to three victories and a tournament title at the La Quinta Invitational, picking up tournament MVP honors in the processes.

The aggressive sophomore flirted with triple-doubles in all three matches, starting off with a 37-assist, six-kill, nine-dig effort in a sweep of IPFW. Against host Utah Valley State, Parada dished out 57 assists to go along with seven kills, eight digs and three blocks. Finally, versus Weber State, Parada totaled 33 assists, nine kills, seven digs, five blocks and an ace.

For the weekend, Parada handed out 127 helps for a 12.7 assists per game average. She also had 22 kills on .271 hitting, scooped 24 digs, put back nine blocks and added an ace.
