This made my day!  So excited!  Big Razorback fan, so for ORU to pick up Conner is huge!  Enjoyed watching him at Arkansas and look forward to his future in Tulsa.  Conner is a solid three point shooter, who is good around the rim.  At Arkansas they were trying to get him to develop a hook shot but it never seemed to work out.  At one point he got up to about 245 lbs.(first year at Arkansas) but then he got sick and lost the weight.  

Can't wait for the guards to throw Conner some lobs!

Great pick up for ORU! The players I talked with said on Connor’s recruiting visit a few weeks ago that they really liked him and of course Connor and Isaac McBride played high school ball together in Arkansas. I saw where he was a 3star recruit out of high school and someone told me a 4 star.  Either way ORIU is on the rise!

He is originally from Little Rock. Signed with Cal out of high school; played there one year: 2018-19. Transferred to Arkansas, sat out a year and played 2020-21 and 2021-22. Shot 34% (51 of 150) from 3-point in his first two years; only 1 of 13 this past year. His minutes played this past year were down substantially - only a total of 113 minutes versus 469 the year before. He only played 15 games (started 10) in the past season.... injury? In 2020-21, he played 29 games and started 27 while averaging 16.2 minutes per game with 4.5 rebs per game and 1.8 blocks and only 1.3 fouls. He is a very good free throw shooter: 34/38 (89.5%) while at Arkansas.

If you want to win the opening tip then just start Connor!  It gives the Eagles a different look at the center postion: Connor's length vs Lufile's power/strength.  He played well agaisnt the Razorbacks nonconference schedule and then rarely was in the game agaisnt SEC competition.  Would not think that the 6'8 centers in the Summit League would want to post up agaisnt a guy who has seven inches on them.

Some things I noticed from the video:

1.  He has shot blocking skills that we desperately need.

2.  He does not put the ball on the floor when he gets it underneath (good to reduce turnovers).

3.  The angle of the camera at OSU is stupid.

EDIT:  I found that he has 2 years left--covid extra year I guess.

Since he played during the Covid year (2020-21), he technically has two years since that was a 'ghost' year.

Need the trainer or someone to start helping Conner and Sir Isasac with putting on some weight.  See if they get the 7'3 transfer up to about 245-250 lbs. by the start of November!

Amazing that he shoots so well from 3 point range.  No one is going to be able to block his 3-pointer.   Will Coach Mills put Lufile down low and run Vanover around the perimeter since he is a 3 point shooter?  Will he actually put Lufile and Vanover both on the floor at the same time?  Does Vanover have leaping ability?  If he does then try to get him open for some alley-oops as long as he can avoid hitting his head on the rim.

Even if Connor is nothing but a rim enforcer and a rebounder, he will be a welcome addition to this team.  And, if he occasionally wants to come out to play "pick-and-pop" with Max, he will definitely be a matchup problem for the opposition.  At least for this year, transfer portal = WIN for ORU.

A 31.9% career three-point shooter, Vanover struggled beyond the arc in 2021-22, finishing 1 of 13 for the season. He missed his final 11 attempts.

guessing he is immediately eligible....looks like he sat a year after transferring from Cal to Arkansas

his one time play right away should still be intact

Not sure if he is eligible right now because only first-time transfers do not have to sit.  He may have to get a waiver from the NCAA, unless he already has graduated from Arkansas.
