Well...we have 72 hours to chat about it.....big game....really big game.....ORU has to win two this week to cement 2nd place and the day off after round one....that surely helps to advance....we were able to overcome it and win the tournament in 2021 but not likely 2 years in a row.....and we don't want to head to Sioux Falls 0-4 vs. NDSU and SDSU.....not good for the psyche.......:tb-white:

I agree Eagleman. We have to win Thursday and make a statement on our home court! Getting the 2 seed would be big for us. With that said we will have to play 2 really good games in the tournament to advance. We need some of that magic we had last year!

SDSU is trying to do what no Summit League team in the last 40 years has ever done: finish undefeated at 18-0.  Maybe they feel a little pressure to achieve that record and have an off night.  The Jackrabbits are so effective on offense averaging 87 points and around 53% from the field, which is second in the nation behind only the #1 ranked Zags.   Plus there defense has gotten much better as the year goes on.  It will take a complete game to win on Thursday.

ORU  has not really had a big win this season, so now is the time to start as we head into March Madness.

Wonder just how important going undefeated in the regular season is to the SDSU coaches and players.

If it's not that big a deal, is there a chance they slide into Tulsa and Kansas City on cruise control, and go plain vanilla heading into Sioux Falls?

It gets a little weird as a coach looking at potential match-ups in the tournament.  If you're SDSU, who would you prefer to face as the 4-seed in the semi-finals?  I'm guessing it's sputtering ORU, instead of dangerously big NDSU or red-hot UMKC.

So that means you DO want to beat ORU Thursday night, but do you take it easy on Saturday against the Roos to insure they finish at least 3rd?

OR, do you just come down with COVID issues on Tuesday or Wednesday and avoid traveling and playing the final two games all together?  After all, there's no time to make up any missed games at this point.

Lots of potential for intrigue this week from the Jacks...

Jacks have to come down south and win at ORU and UMKC.....i just don't see it......but if they go 18-0 then God Bless them....they will have earned it.....then if they win 3 in the Tourney and are 21-0......they will likely earn at least a 10 seed and maybe as high as 8 or 9.....ORU needs a signature win prior to the Summit Tournament so this will have to be it....can't fall asleep the first 10 minutes and be down 25-10 or something....SDSU will roll us.....Good Guys have to bring it for 40 minutes.....or even 45 if this goes overtime.....Cosmo Kramer

And then there's the threat of bad weather in the next 3 days. Are they flying or taking a bus to Tulsa?

ORU took a private charter plane to the Dakotas so probably they are doing the same. If we get a lot of ice it may be interesting if they get here and if the game will be played on Thursday night.

Could be a game that decides player of the year in the Summit League Conference: Max vs Baylor Schierman.  Baylor leads the league in rebounds and assists, plus he averages over 15 a game.  If SDSU wins and finishes 18-0 then Baylor could win the player of the year award.  Max needs to lead ORU to victory and have a solid all around game to lock up the award.

Geez....TheEagleman is concerned....ORU will have to bring our A+ game to win.....and we haven't seen that for most of  2022..Jacks may be the best team we have faced all year season....Expect SDSU to be a road favorite ............ :shield-logo: vs.  :sdsu:

Unless we get hot in the conference tournament SD State with those stats could be a really dangerous team in the NCAA tournament!  I have watched a lot of top 25 teams this year that don't shoot nearly as well as the Jacks and am quite sure non of those teams would look forward to playing them! This is where we need to "Expect A Miracle"!

Plus SDSU has done all this (mentioned above) without an all star Noah Friedel.  Noah played the first game of the conference season but since then he has been on there scout team (according to Coach Henderson).  Imagine if they had Noah playing to go along with all their studs.

Sounds like Freidel is playing, but only garbage time minutes? Kind of an interesting arrangement they've got going there. It's wild what they've managed to do after losing the leading scorer on their team through the first portion of the season. I wonder how long Eric Henderson is gonna stick around.

A 46% 3 point shooting % for the season is unreal.  That is like the whole team averaging a higher % than Tim Gill (as an example).

Yes, the Jacks are CRAZY good from behind the arc. In fact, through yesterday’s games, they are shooting 45.2% on threes, best in the country.  And, the second best team nationally is Purdue at 40.3%, NEARLY FIVE PERCENTAGE POINTS LOWER. That is utterly ridiculous…

ORU’s percentage is 38.4%, which is good for a very respectable #12 in the nation.  SDSU attempts 22 threes per game, while ORU attempts just over thirty.  If shooting averages prevail, on those 22 shots alone, the Jacks will make over 1.5 more than ORU, giving them just under an instant five-point advantage on that stat alone.  We need to shoot better than average just to keep from spotting them a five point deficit. And, as we all know, we have NOT been shooting well in recent games.  Tough sledding ahead!

Watched a few highlights of SDSU games this year on youtube and the thing that really stands out is that all their guys really pass the ball well.  Which means they get a lot of open looks at the basket and thus shoot so well.  Very unselfish group.  The Jackrabbits average about 16 assists a game, which is winning basketball.
