theeagleman5 Posted May 19, 2021 Share Posted May 19, 2021 Final regular season series vs. the Jacks starts tomorrow afternoon with a DH in Brookings.....just a tune up for the Golden Eagles (26-19 /17-5) since ORU has clinched first place and the #1 seed for the Summit League Tournament....however, always good to go into the post season with some positive momentum....SDSU is still battling for the 4th and final seed at the tournament in Omaha so this is very important to them.....the Jacks would be the first round opponent for ORU if they can finish in 4th.....WIU hosting Omaha and the Leathernecks need a big series to pass SDSU for the final spot...... Besides, there may be some psychological benefit in sweeping SDSU especially if we see them again at the start of the Summit Tourney next week. theeagleman5 Posted May 20, 2021 Author Share Posted May 20, 2021 ORU up 11-8 in a wild one at Brookings in game 1 this afternoon in the top of the 9th.....SDSU had a 5-1 lead in the first and knocked out our starter but the Eagles have roared back led by HRs by Swift and Jones plus five guys with multiple hit games....Good Guys need 3 more outs to take the win.... theeagleman5 Posted May 21, 2021 Author Share Posted May 21, 2021 Isaac Coffey now 9-1 with 5 strong innings for ORU....Ryan Cash with the game winning 2 run single in the 6th....Golden Eagles now 28-19 (19-5) with a single game on Friday afternoon.....SDSU has fallen to last place in the Summit due the WIU getting a split today at home vs. Omaha....Jacks in an almost must win situation for the final two games as they trail the Leathernecks by a 1/2 game for the final playoff spot and the right to face #1 seed ORU in round 1..... theeagleman5 Posted May 22, 2021 Author Share Posted May 22, 2021 SDSU rallied to win on Friday, 4-3....so coupled with the WIU loss to Omaha that means that the Jacks can clinch the 4th and final playoff spot with a win over ORU in today in the series finale.....right now SDSU is rolling 6-1 in the 5th inning.... theeagleman5 Posted May 22, 2021 Author Share Posted May 22, 2021 ORU drops the final regular season game at Brookings today, 7-4....so SDSU clinches the final playoff spot and we will see a rematch in Round 1 next Wednesday in Omaha.....the Host #3 Mavs will face #2 NDSU.....ORU fininshed the regualar season at 28-21 (19-7).....
