Otis 83
Those are two pretty demoralizing loses in a row for Omaha. It will be interesting to see how they respond tomorrow.
Otis 83
Is it raining in Omaha?
TrueBlue82
Rained out today in Omaha. And, with the three game sweep of the Mavs, ORU earns the Summit League regular season championship, the number one seed in the upcoming tournament, and the opportunity to host the conference tourney in 2022. Great weekend for the boys in blue!

I thought the Summit League TOURNAMENT champion (and NCAA tournament representative) earned the opportunity to host the conference tournament the following season - but it's the previous regular season "champion"? (Omaha earned both distinctions in 2019 before last season's cancellation).

Looked it up: shockingly, TrueBlue82 is right again (lol)...the No. 1 Seed from the previous year's tournament gets to host, regardless of whether they won last year's tournament, or how they fared this season. Case in point: in 2010, ORU and SDSU finished the regular season tied for first, but the Jackrabbits earned the No. 1 Seed for that year's tourney on a tiebreaker. ORU won that conference tournament as a 2 Seed in Tulsa, then in 2012, despite finishing in first place in the regular season, had to travel to Sioux Falls as the No. 1 Seed, where they nonetheless went 3-0 to earn their 14th straight conference tournament title and NCAA berth. And this season, the Golden Eagles are going to convincingly finish first in the regular season, only to be "rewarded" with a 7-hour bus trip to Omaha due to something that happened two years ago. Crazy...
theeagleman5
Yeah.....the whole set up is ridiculous.....#1 seed should host the tournament plain and simple....but it is what it is.....Congrats to ORU for winning the regular season title.....we will host the 2022 tournament.....now let's go to Omaha on Memorial Day weekend and finish the job.....
dave
They have played their best this year against the toughest competition (LSU and DBU) and when there is a lot on the line (the last series against UNO). Let's hope they don't let down and keep playing hard against SDSU so they can the keep momentum going into the conference tournament, even though they already have the #1 conference seeding. Let's go Eagles!
