ORUalum
Colorado went 12-20 from the charity stripe last night in their loss to Oregon St. They are now just trailing ORU for the all time season record for FT percentage. .....and I feel like i've just jinxed ORU by typing this post

92EagleFan Matt B
My daughter saw this statistic a few days ago and called me to tell me that she knew I would absolutely love this as my two favorite teams (Colorado and ORU) are leading in one of the most crucial (IMHO) stats. EagleFanatic
To add to the FT discussion, some interesting stats. Vs. Ohio State ORU shot 14-18 from the line (Obanor 7-7) OSU shot 9-18, we win the game by 3 points Vs. Florida ORU was 19-23 (Abmas 12-12) Florida only went to the line 9 times, hitting 7. Lastly, the brilliance of intentionally fouling Osayi Osifo at 3:11 left in the game was epic. I remember thinking the foul seemed so bizarre live, so when I heard after the game that it was by design, I was very impressed!! Go eagles go!! EagleFanatic
Looking ahead... Arkansas vs. Colgate first round 10-17 FT (58.8%) 12-27 3pt (44.4%) Arkansas vs. Texas Tech second round 12-18 FT (66.6%) 10-20 3pt (50%) At least in those games, they seem to be much stronger shooting from outside than they are at hitting the free throws. I think you inadvertently picked up their opponents' stats. Their FT shooting (.759 and .708) is decent, but they have been challenged from beyond the arc (.313 and .235). Anything we can do to force them outside would be beneficial...
EagleFanatic
Oops, that's exactly what I did! Thanks for the correction. Not sure how to feel about that. On the one hand low 3pt% seems like a good thing, on the other, I hope it doesn't mean they pound it inside the whole game. Pretty sure we will need 40 KO minutes. ORUTerry
And guard the ball really well.... and rebound.
EagleFanatic
It didn't seem like Ohio State or Florida were able to penetrate very well, either settling for an outside look, or dumping it down low. Was that due to style of play, or defense? Max and Jurgens and Kareem seem to be a very good first line of defense.
Old Titan
It pains me to post this: ORU went 10-of-13 from the free throw line Saturday night vs. Arkansas to finish the season 407-of-496, for a completion percentage of 82.06%, just shy of the 37-year-old NCAA record held by Harvard (535-of-651 for 82.18%). If they had made just one of those three missed free throws, they would have broken the record: 408-of-496 comes out to 82.26%. In a geeky former-statistician kind of way, that makes me a little sick...
ORUTerry
That’s a tough way to lose that record...

EagleFanatic
Had Max hit that last shot, what would be the odds of us reclaiming that record in the next game?
