Old Titan
Shockers jump out to 2-0 lead headed to the top of the 2nd inning. Disturbing trend so far in this miserable 2-5 start: ORU has been outscored 10-0 in the first inning in eight home games counting today. In only three of those games were the good guys able to keep the opponent off the board in the first frame. It's hard on everyone when you're already trailing before you even come to the plate: the hitters, the starting pitcher, the defense - everyone. Whatever is the routine for the starting pitchers during their pre-game warm-up needs to be re-evaluated, 'cause it just ain't working this year. TrueBlue82
In a prior post after ORU's first four games, I noted my great concern with ORU's 7 errors (vs. 1 for the opponents). Fortunately, the early season miscues have now balanced out, as ORU's defense has committed 8 errors through 8 games (vs. 7 for the opponents). But, the bats have not warmed up, and it will be a LONG season until they do. ORU's batting average is an anemic .223, while opponents have batted .268 against ORU's pitching staff. The next eight games are a significant step up in competition compared to the opening eight game homestand, with three at LSU, back home for a mid-week clash with OSU and three with DBU at JLJ, and a quick road trip to Missouri State.
