Missouri

ORU GRAD

Recommended Posts

Missouri looks to have a veteran team going against the Eagles on the 25th November.  With so many uncertain situations with Obanor, and Lufile, sitting out the Blue /Gold scrimmage Saturday leaves some big question marks. If both are healthy, then they will start in the front line. If not, we should see Clover in the middle along with D.J, Thompson and Abmas plus Glasper, Lacis, or (who knows). This is not a pleasant situation starting our season but may turn up some possibilities for future games. I hope we will get to watch if possible this game on TV. This team has so many unanswered questions at this point with very little exposure. Maybe you have a better insight on the lineup.

We may not know until game time who will play or who will start at Missouri.  Lufile was dressed out and did not have a boot/crutches, etc. on for the blue/gold game.  So maybe by next week he will be good to go.  The game is listed as viewable on SEC Network plus but not sure how to watch that.  You might have to have some special cable or other package.  If K.O. cannot play then I would guess that the starting lineup is as follows:  Glasper, Abmas, Thompson, D.J. Weaver, and Clover.  Missouri is big and experienced so ORU will need all hands on deck for this one.

Sounds like TheEagleman may have to go heavy on the Tigers next Wednesday night.....although there will likely be very few fans in the arena so it's like a glorified scrimmage....Still...Mizzou seems like the play unless the line is ridiculously high.....:tb-blue:

That said....if ORU can get Obanor healthy and in uniform with all the other new guys and returning players.....this is a game that the Good Guys could steal....anything could happen in this era of Covid Basketball.....probably best just to sit this one out and enjoy the action. Perhaps it will be on the SEC Network.....:circle-logoi:

The Golden Eagles are due to win a big game agaisnt a power 5 or strong mid major.  ORU's last major victory was at 8 ranked Xavier (who had three starters missing).  It may not be Missouri but they should have a good shot of upsetting the WSU Shockers, who are losing their coach Greg Marshall. This is Coach Mills fourth season so it would be encouraging to see him win a road game agaisnt a solid non-conference team and of course Tulsa, too!

Looking at the Tigers website about tomorrow's game and it says: Missouri has the most returning experience of any power 5 team and is the ninth tallest team in college basketball.  Missouri will allow up to 3,000 fans in their home court tomorrow.  They are ranked 55th by CBS sports and should be a tough challenge for the Golden Eagles.  If K.O. is out then predicting the Tigers by 20, 81-61.

VegasInsider.com has Mizzou -13.5 with a 146.5 total.

ORU managed to cover a surprising number of lines as an underdog last season.  Who knows what will happen in this game, but I'm inclined to think the Tigers won't have any problem with that spread based on ORU's historically bad defense under Paul Mills vs. Power 5 opponents.  Wouldn't touch the over, though:  even a runaway like 85-60 would still fall short of that Vegas total.

ORU has played at Mizzou three times in the past decade.  The final scores were eerily similar: 80-64; 78-64; 81-62, which averages out to 80-63.  Sounds like Mizzou +13.5 and the Under is the play.  But, then again, this is 2020, so nothing makes any sense.

That's gotta be a typo on Thompson's Minutes Per Game last season at the juco level:  17.2 points per game, in just 13.7 minutes??

That pace would eclipse the other Kareem who played a little basketball...

Actually, it comes straight off of the East Central CC basketball website for last year (so it must be right, yes???).😏

However, ECCC's base data is flawed, in that "minutes played" were not captured during many games, and instead placed a "1" in the minutes column, as if to say "they played".  And, these "1's" were included in the average calculation.  In the ten games during the season where minutes were tabulated, Kareem averaged 16.3 PPG in 30.3 minutes per game.  Good catch, OT!

The sad thing is that no one in an official capacity caught it before it made the ORU game notes; it (apparently) just got cut & pasted.

I’m reminded of Ron Burgundy reading the teleprompter in “Anchorman”...🙄

My thoughts exactly, OT. Looking at the projected starting line up like, "Who are these guys?".

Where is DJ, Clover and Lufile? We will not fair very well with this lineup. Too small and we have some big guards. We lose by 30. Maybe this is as good as it gets.
