Whatever... I will say this much: if the head coach is on video saying they've signed, then I guess that settles it. ...unless, of course, it doesn't. Keenan Henderson
Thanks for the post Dr. Cornelius. Coach made some interesting posts: 1. Clover is similar to Eman in that he can score around the basket, hit mid-range jumpers and rebound. 2. He thinks next season will be even better with DJ back, maybe 2-3 in the league. 3. K.O. should have a much better season as a junior. Would agree with 1 and 3 but maybe not 2. Unless he recruits a couple of solid grad transfers then it seems that the Eagles will have another middle of the pack ranking in conference play. Only one senior on the team right now in Jones, who only plays in mop up situations, so they need some grad transfers with experience. Keenan Henderson
Not sure where to post this but they just had another video conference (zoom meeting) with Coach Mills, Misty, and Mike Carter on May 13 (youtube it) Mills said that he is scheduling teams that ORU can play by bus (OK state, Whicita State, Arkansas, and TCU) for next year. Coach also said that Lee Mayberry saw RJ Glasper play a lot when he was at Arkansas and thinks he can be as good as Burns. Mayberry says Glasper is a great scorer and knows how to run a team. It is about an one hour and fifteen minute video but definitely worth the watch.

ORUTerry
Interesting tidbits for those who haven’t watched: * Both coaches described how they handled the shut down and coordinated with with their players. They also mentioned how they appreciated everyone’s prayers and how the university & administration has handled the situation * They talked about watching the Last Dance and the impact Michael Jordan’s style of play had on them. (His drive & leadership) * Mills said the program goal is to win a conference championship and go to the NCAA tournament. The process is to build brick by brick. Steps: get better talent, win home games, win on the road, win all quad 4 games (was 10-1 last year), win quad 3 games. Had 4th largest increase in NET ranking last year. Biggest regret was not having Weaver available with last year’s squad. * Cussen said last year’s squad was older (5 seniors). Holt broke her foot 2 days before season started. Had to completely change the offense. She came back in middle of the season. Finished 3rd in the conference. Played South Dakota tough. She said that they have to become more athletic and stretch the game to full court. Cannot play the Dakotas at their type of game. This year’s squad will be deep and athletic. Signed two 6’4” players (daughters of Anthony Jones - former ORU player) that add size and athleticism. * Mills mentioned that in the past we had 10 transfers out of the program (8 ended up in D-2)... a reflection of the level of talent. Did not have a transfer this year. He thinks this squad may be able to finish in the top 2. * Cussens mentioned a possible recruit from the Netherlands (signed yesterday!!). Said the program is used to an international flavor - with players from Spain, Portugal and Australia in the past. She said that ORU’s international flavor (115 countries) helps with recruits. She indicated they are recruiting in Australia. * Mills said that the men’s program is also recruiting internationally. Mentioned EMan, Obanor and Bergens - all with ties to the Netherlands... and that we might add another Dutch player. He also mentioned Lacis & Jurgens. * Both coaches were asked about any new players who would contribute: Cussen: hard to say now. Signed a set of twins from Texas who are very athletic. They won 3 state HS championships. We also signed their teammate, a small forward. The Jones girls will also contribute. * Mills said he’s not good at predictions. He said he thought Abmas would be a spot player because he was so thin. Stevens (juco) can really shoot; Thompson is a versatile player and Glasper was highly recommended by Lee Mayberry

theeagleman5
TheEagleman likes the facial hair on Millsy…..it makes him look a little tougher.....he should keep it.....now if we can just get him to wear a tie while on the bench.....
Keenan Henderson
Great line from Coach during the interview, No matter how bad our record was during the first season, I knew they would never fire me!
