Huge game today.....as mentioned previously, the winner of ORU-Omaha is in great position to win this tournament.....one hour until first pitch and TheEagleman is already nervous.... are we home or away???...will be checking in here at the office.....GO BLUE!!! :tb-white:

It appears ORU is the home team, despite Omaha being the No. 1 seed.

After the first round, there's a protocol based on who was the home/visitor the previous game(s); I don't think seeding figures into the equation like it does in the first round.

Absolute killer there in the 5th.  Get a leadoff double from the 9 hole and your 1 hole can't execute a sac....bunts it right back to the mound.  That cost ORU a run.  Those are the plays that end up costing you later on.

ORU clinging to a 2-1 lead thru 5

I just don't get why you don't try to bunt in a run there....bottom of the line up, the pitcher is a little rattled, take it to their defense and make them execute a perfect play to keep a run off the board.

Tough loss 3-2.......ORU now must to win 3 in a row to take the tournament.....TheEagleman doesn't think we have the pitching to do it.....😬

Hats off to Omaha, they outplayed and out coached ORU.

ORU w/the tough task of winning 3 straight to keep the NCAA streak going.

*sigh*

So many empty at-bats.  Omaha basically said “We’re not pitching to Henson; the rest of you guys will have to beat us.”

Martinez’ weak foul pop with 1 out and the bases loaded in the 6th was the coup de grace.

Horrible waste of a great pitching job by Gaskins.

Another pitching gem by Coffey...but again not much hitting.......2-0 ORU with the Good Guys batting in the top of the 9th....😀

Leave it to a Frosh to get the job done when needed....9 innings....no runs....5 hits......9 Ks...0 walks...4-0 ORU....now have to find a way to beat Omaha twice tomorrow.... EXPECT A MIRACLE!!!!.....😎

The starting pitching these three games has been phenomenal:  only 5 total runs allowed.

Now it’s time for the bats to come alive!

It has been a busy week, so I have not posted much but I was impressed with ORU in the first SDSU game.

When the game was 3-2 and ORU needed some insurance runs, they found patience at the plate to draw a walk with the bases loaded and then sacrificed in a run for the 5-2 final.

They had a lot of opportunities in the Omaha game, as OT mentioned, but Omaha is a decent team this year, and the Omaha pitching stood up when they needed to.

Then ORU doesn't hang their head and instead wins a 4-0 game to send SDSU packing.

ORU will have to earn it today against Omaha to get 2 wins as we dig more deeply into our pitching staff, but ORU beat OU twice this year with "mid-week" game pitching, and that is basically where we are now.  Also as OT mentioned, we will need to provide some run support or we will not be moving on.  I still like ORU's chances if we can win the 1st game today, because then ORU will have the mental edge going into a winner takes all 2nd game as all these Summit League teams are very familiar with seeing ORU win this tournament year after year and the thought that it is going to happen again could get in Omaha's head.  Go Golden Eagles!
