ORU at Western Illinois

Two of the coldest teams in the Summit League face off this Saturday evening in Macomb.....ORU has lost 8 of their last 11 and WIU 9 of their last 11....flip a coin on this one....TheEagleman has no clue....I am tempted to go with ORU especially if Emmanuel is back but can't count on that.....plus we played poorly in North Dakota last week and weren't even competitive against two teams we could have beaten.....The Leathernecks don't exactly light it up at home either....so who knows??....WIU needs the win to stay in the 8th spot.....ORU needs a win to stay at 5....WIU is probably a bit hungrier....but they stink....I just can't pick them.....going on a hunch here but I will take the Good Guys just because....close ugly game.......ORU 79  WIU 75.....:tb-blue:

Mills mentioned on this week's coaches show that Summit League teams with 7 days of prep time are 13-2 on the season. Western lost last night at Omaha while ORU hasn't played since the the 16th.

Great Stat, Doc....TheEagleman wasn't aware of that one.....you have just cemented my choice....being the more rested team SHOULD help....but with this ORU squad....who knows?....but it makes a ton of sense.....expecting the line to be fairly close....a point or two either way......🤑

I'm hearing rumors of Sam Kearns being out for the rest of the season. Can anyone confirm this is true?

ORU "Insider" needs to change his handle....🤔.....but if we lose Sam Kearns....well, that's a major problem.....😥

Doesn't look like Sam was practicing today...

It looks like E-Man was out there (#23) as was RJ (#12)

I heard that Sam might have hurt his other shoulder.

ORU is +1.5 this morning with the O/U at 144. With the way we are playing and the injury issues its difficult to take ORU tonight....and WIU isnt very good either...probably just a good night to stay on the sidelines unless we get some news that E-man is playing....🤕

Kearns is listed as a “probable starter” on the SID’s pre-game notes for tonight.  But, this may mean absolutely nothing, and could be reporting the most recent starting lineup In order to keep WIU guessing...  E-man is not listed among the starters.

Western has the big guy, Gilbeck, who leads the nation in block shots.  He gave our bigs some problems last time with six blocks.  So ORU will need some outside shooting in this one to open things up for K.O. inside.

No Kearns, he’s not dressed.

Western up 2-0 at first media timeout....this could be ugly! 😵

What do you suppose is the longest ORU has ever gone without scoring to open the game? Currently 7 minutes and counting.

Under 12 media, WIU leads 12-0

Wow! Down 37-25 at half.

if ORU does not come back and win this game, and if Kearns is out for the season, I really think the 6th seed is where they will finish....

E-man came to play, 13 and 6, but the rest of the team looks lost in space.  Once again the opponent is tearing up ORU's zone defense.

How?

Even if ORU loses out the rest of the way, the teams behind them need so many things to go right to earn that 5th spot, that I still think it's highly unlikely.

I don’t see ORU beating Omaha, and I do think it very possible that South Dakota beats both NDSU and North Dakota, two home games.

SD would finish 7-9, ORU 6-10

South Dakota can't beat NDSU, but if they beat UND they would be tied at 6-10 with a lose-out ORU, who they split with head-to-head.

I'm not sure how the tiebreaker works after that, but I'm guessing ORU's early victory over likely #1 or #2 Omaha would figure prominently in the process.

So, while I'm not quite as certain as I was a couple of weeks ago, I would STILL wager that ORU will limp into Sioux Falls in the 5th spot, to play either PFW or NDSU.

So much for the 7 days prep theory!

SD will beat NDSU, Eagleman you can take that one to the 🏦!

6th seed at the tourney, one and done! 🤮

Eagles were almost unwatchable tonight.  Playing like it’s an early season game in the last road game of the year.

Not having a point guard can have that effect on a team, particularly on the road.

Can you imagine the carnage if ORU played more teams that applied full-court pressure?

I’m shocked that every team does not apply at least some full court pressure against us.
