theeagleman5
Big early season series in the Summit as the Good Guys head up to Nebraska to face the Mavericks....will ORU continue to go with McMinn as the Friday starter???...
EagleManiac
They go with McMinn. The coaches show faith in him through a couple of bad starts. Hopefully he can find his stuff today and turn it around.
EagleManiac
Guess he doesn't have it today either. Given up 2 runs on 4 hits through 3 innings.
ORUalum
McMinn goes 5 innings and gives up 3 runs on 104 pitches...............ORU's "ace" still does not have a quality start this year. It's a shame ORU is breaking in a new pitching coach this year. They have some real arm talent on this team. ORU needs to pitch Micheals on the Mid-week versus UALR and go with Ausua, McGregor, and Varnell for the series next weekend.
theeagleman5
ORU entered the 9th down 4-1 but have rallied to 4-3 and still batting with the sacks loaded and one out.......Good Guys not going down easy....
theeagleman5
Nope....we lost, 4-3.....tough way to start the weekend....ORU falls to 2nd place in the Summit.....
ORUalum
L: McMinn (0-3) HR: Cummings Townsend is forced to pitch 3 innings and is likely done for the weekend......
ORU82
Why we keep starting McMinn on Fridays is totally beyond me. I am not impressed with either the new pitching coach or this team in general. Hopefully changes are coming soon.
ORUalum
7th inning stretch ORU down 5-2. Omaha has flat been the better team -- better fielding and pitching, timely hits, and aggressive base running. Ausua was effective, but the story of the season --- elevated pitch counts --- and he can only go 5. ORU's bullpen immediately gives up 4 runs the next inning. The bullpen sans Townsend, Womacks, and Stout is a complete dumpster fire this season.
ORUalum
Omaha takes the series with a 8-2 win............ORU tries to salvage one tomorrow L: Rogan
TrueBlue82
Embarrassing loss today - as I can't ever remember being two games back in the Summit before. What may be worse is that ORU's RPI is now 207, behind both Omaha (180) and NDSU (184). The only excuse today is that the Omaha weather included a 15 mph wind and a wind chill of 25. Bad weather is the great equalizer in sports... I'm still confident that we will right the ship in time to win the Summit regular season and tournament titles. But it may be with a few more bumps and bruises than usual.

theeagleman5
A very disappointing start after the sweep of Utah...but The great thing about the sport of baseball is that you can usually come back the next day and right the ship....ORU needs to do that on Sunday...getting swept at Omaha would not be a good thing....that would send a signal to the rest of the Summit League that we are very vulnerable.....and perhaps we are???.... ORUalum
Stretch time.............ORU up 7-4.............Omaha has helped out today with 5 errors

ORUTerry
I love that ORU baseball maintains the flame - even in frigid weather.
theeagleman5
Real good win today....ORU needed this one to avoid an embarrassing sweep. All teams go thru slumps and maybe this squad isn't our best ORU team....but we are still the class of the Summit...also no fun playing ball in freezing temps...but we need to get our bullpen back on track....
