On a side note, I never expected to hear the entire song played loudly “You Give Love a Bad Name” at halftime of an ORU home game. I can imagine that is not quite what Oral envisioned.  But if we win tonight, we might have to keep doing it until we lose at home.  Whatever it takes...

Hard pass on Bon Jovi and NJ in general.

Good minutes from Jontray off the bench tonight and Albert is playing better after the tough start........hope both those guys are rounding into form.

Suggs not much of a difference maker for Omaha tonight....he has 14 but ORU is pounding the visitors.....E-Man and RJ are really doing a great job.....and Harris too.....love it!...:eagles:

Solid solid win.  Eagles did just what they were supposed to do - take early control of a game at home against a weaker opponent, and never let them back in.  And with a starting lineup of a freshman and four sophomores...good days ahead!

Impressive performances from several different guys but the best thing I saw was players TALKING on the floor all game.

ORU and TheEagleman both finish the year with a huge win.....this was impressive for a team that just 3 short weeks ago got rolled by an NAIA team at home...getting a 93-74 victory tonight vs. Omaha is a really nice start to the conference season and wonderful performances by RJ and Eman with 17 and 21 respectively....a double double for Nzekwesi (21 and 11) and Javan just a bucket short of a the same with 8 and 12.....seven players with 8 points or more is great balanced scoring....Coach Mills has really done a fine job turning this group around in the past few weeks starting with the benching of Albert.......that took guts.....let's see if we can build on this win with a big game vs. IPFW coming up next Thursday....GO BLUE!!...:eagles:

they cut way back on the ESPN3 games this year.....probably to save a few bucks and see if butts in seats would improve.

the home game vs Mo. St was actually a Mo. St broadcast......must have come to some cost sharing arrangement with them.

There are 16 sections of seats in the lower bowl of the Mabee Center.

For the past two seasons, two sections in each end zone have been covered by black tarps.

The two sections to either side of the end zone where the students and band are based had maybe a dozen people in each section.

The remaining 10 sections had between 50-to-90 fans in each, with none having over 100.

And I know this because I was there, and I counted them.

That means there were actually fewer than 1000 fans in attendance, and on a Saturday night where TU, OU, OSU, and the Thunder were not in action.

I can only imagine that the announced attendance of 1767 was either an estimate, or included a figure for the students out on break.

Either way, the crowd was woeful.

Which is a shame, considering that the team is actually rounding into decent form.

Do the students return this week?... If so, Hopefully a little better turnout later this week for big games vs. Fort Wayne and South Dakota....need to win home games if ORU wants to finish in the top half of the Summit....not surprised at the small turnout during holiday week.....but maybe the big victory will recharge our ticketholders?....did the number of season tickets drop drastically after the Sutton firing debacle??....:eagles:

By all appearances, season tickets are down again this year, continuing a decades-long decline.

Whether it has anything to do with Sutton's firing is actually debatable:  can't imagine losing 20 games last year (with no better prospects this season) helped the cause one bit, regardless of who the coach was this campaign.

One thing is likely clear at this point, however:  barring a new state-of-the-art arena, winning BIG is the only thing that might create an uptick in season ticket sales in the coming years.  Lots of factors involved in the decline...

Any chance that a new Seventy First Wine and Spirits/Billy Wilson Arena is in the near future for ORU???....:-P;-)

Classes do not begin until NEXT week, so the next two home games will also be without any significant student support.

We've been pretty good at driving away the average basketball fan the last few seasons. It's going to take a couple years of winning (and earning back some favor with Tulsa sports media) before the crowds begin to trend the other direction.

Winning cures all.  Although I went to the Tulsa game and their crowd wasn't great either.  Is it possible the average sports fan in Tulsa is just staying home and watching Netflix these days?
