Old Titan
Wins like this for SDSU over Iowa today used to be annual events for ORU, but no more. Part of the problem is that ORU doesn't play the big boys on neutral floors like they used to in these exempt tourneys; the last few years they've opted instead for the "Power-Five-Games-At-Their-Place, Mid-Major-Games-At-Neutral-Site" showcases like the one splitting between Malibu & Brooklyn this week. Combine those games with the traditional "guarantee games" on the ORU schedule, and there are literally zero opportunities to play a big school off their own floor. Trivia: when was the last time ORU beat a so-called "Power Five*" team in the Mabee Center? How about on a neutral floor? And toughest achievement of all, when was the last time they pulled it off in the opponent's own gym? *The Power Five Conferences: Big Ten, Big XII, Southeastern, Atlantic Coast, and Pac-
ORUTerry
We beat Georgetown on a neutral site and Missouri in the Mabee Center.
ORUalum
I was thinking Tech (Gillespie's team???) at home (should have beat OU at home a few years ago -- horrible last minute or two) neutral site --- no clue road game --- @ Xavier when they had their best players suspended ??? ManiacAlum
@Stanford? That's the last true road power 5 win I can think of. And that was all the way back in 2009.
Bogus Smith
When was the last time ORU beat a so-called "Power Five*" team in the Mabee Center? Missouri 60-59 - 12/9/2009 How about on a neutral floor? Oklahoma State 74-59 - 12/20/2007 And toughest achievement of all, when was the last time they pulled it off in the opponent's own gym? oruvoice
Was Utah a P5 school in 2010? Not sure what year they joined the Pac-12...
EagleManiac
This thread is depressing.... didn’t realize it had been this long since we’d had this level of success.

Wikipedia says "it was announced on June 17, 2010, that the Utes would join the conference in all sports, beginning in the 2011–2012 academic year." So no, not yet. TrueBlue82
With Utah disqualified, we'd have to go back to Stanford for the road win - and I've also brought the Mabee Center win a couple of years more recent. Nonetheless, still a disappointing result... When was the last time ORU beat a so-called "Power Five*" team in the Mabee Center? Texas Tech 72-56 - 12/22/2011 How about on a neutral floor? Old Titan
Thanks for all your hard work, guys - I think you get my drift: it’s been a while.
SanDakotaState
SDSU knocked off Ole Miss on the road last night in OT 99-97 after the Jacks almost blew a 20 point halftime lead. This makes SDSU 2-1 against the P5 schools with the lone loss coming from Kansas. SDSU still has Colorado and Wichita State on the non-conference schedule. It's also worth noting that Iowa and Ole Miss aren't that great this year.....
