You joke - but woe to any mid major team caught in this scandal. Of course, that won’t happen because the high rated recruits go to the power 5 schools.

Pitino is and always has been a total slimeball.....he deserves everything he gets....of course, he claims to be shocked that more illegal activity has occurred under his watch....|(...hopefully he has coached his last game.....:geek:

The weird thing about Evans the assistant coach from OSU is he is making $600,000.00 per year and is the lead recruiter for them and was getting maybe $2000.00 to $3000.00 per month for all of this... Really? What the heck was he thinking? Not like they had some high level sure 1rst round draft pick kids. At least he was asking for $5,000 a month and they told him no! Geez! Now he is literally done and will get lucky to be making $30,000.00 a year once he gets out of jail. Why???

By the way you know those guys will be singing like a canary to the FBI to serve as little time as they possibly can.

Lots of nervous people out there right now for sure.

With Pitino and Miami and other schools that got caught. Why would they meet? What happened to the old fashioned leave a bag of $$ in a locker? Not very smart.

I think that the practice of shoe companies funneling players to schools became so common and well known that coaches didn’t think they had to hide it anymore.

It's going to take perp walks from execs at Adidas (or Nike) for anything to change.  A few assistants charged and Pitino losing his job won't change a thing.  The thing that has amazed me is how many of the college basketball experts on ESPN seemed to shrug their shoulders as if it was no big deal (business as usual) and some justified illegal payments to student athletes.  Dick Vitale seems like the only guy upset on ESPN.

I say give them the same treatment SMU received.  In other words, kill the programs.  That will send a strong message throughout the entire NCAA.  Oh and while they are at it, send anyone involved to prison.

Not only does the NCAA not care about enforcing this, they're probably hoping the FBI (who also probably doesn't care, not in any real way) stops digging once this investigation has concluded so that they can return to business as usual. Otherwise, what's stopping these companies from steering high schoolers to play a year overseas and paying them there?

No Power 5 program will ever receive the death penalty again. Conferences and media entities won't allow it.

Sadly Dr. C I have to agree with you, although it is what is deserving and would send a BIG message to the college sports world.

It's all the same thing, isn't it? If he's not willing to do the work, then they'll go find an assistant who will.

Pretty sure that Evans WAS doing exactly what he was hired to do.

  • 2 weeks later...

Talking-and-tweeting heads say another round of indictments and arrests is just around the corner; Scott Drew of Baylor has been mentioned as a possible target.

(if that happens, here's a line to read between regarding this post:  _____________________________________________________ )
