BlueGold
Our first one in the Class of 2018, she announced it last night: And so did her AAU program: She's going into her senior year at Harrah High School, the same school that ORU men's basketball's Kellen Manek played at. Here's what he had to say on twitter: Harrah's girls won the Oklahoma Class 4A state championship last season. They were ranked #2 in the state for most of the season and beat #1 and undefeated Fort Gibson in the championship game. Erika hit two threes and had 13 points and 8 rebounds in the championship game win. She's more of a long-range and perimeter shooter, and has earned a reputation as a pretty good lock down defender. Decent size for a combo guard. Smart and very competitive. Sometimes when you scout players and recruit them those types of intangibles really come through, and I'm sure her intangibles were important to our coaches. It also helps that she will fit in very well at ORU based on her character and her faith. Right now we have two seniors listed on our 2017-18 roster (Faith Ihim and Lakota Beatty), so we should/could expect at least one more commitment just based on the numbers, but we also may need to factor in Ashley's loss and whether or not it might potentially open up a scholarship for an 'extra' player in the 2018 class, or it could possibly result in a late addition to our team for the upcoming season. Congratulations to Erika! Welcome to ORU!
