Great pitching by McGregor, Glaze and Stout....HR and 3 RBI by Cummings. WIU came back to tie it at 2 but the Good Guys pull it out late 5-2....So we have NDSU vs. WIU in an elimination game at noon tomorrow then ORU vs. SDSU at night.....Jacks are smokin' hot with 9 wins in a row and we are 40-14....great match up. Does ORU go with Ausua or McMinn???...:geek:

Looks like WIU has one foot out the door....3 early errors and they trail the Bison, 6-1 in the 2nd inning of the elimination game going on now....:geek:

8-2 NDSU in the 4th now.....5 errors for WIU....is there a 10 run rule in the Summit League Tournament?....:!:

NDSU advances with an 11-4 win over WIU....the Leathernecks head home....loser tonight will play the Bison tomorrow at 6pm with winner of that game advancing to the finals on Saturday afternoon vs. tonight's winner...so it goes without saying that tonight's ORU-SDSU game is huge....win tonight and you only need one win to get the title....lose and you have to win 3.......:geek:

McCutchin is the star tonight with 3 hits and a huge pitching effort getting out of an 8th inning jam with a huge DP ending the SDSU 9 game streak. McMinn with 7 strong innings holds the Jacks to 4 hits in the 5-3 win. So ORU in the drivers seat off until Saturday afternoon and Ausua on the mound in the finals. The Jacks and Bison go at it tomorrow night in an elimination game....:eagles:

Nice win for the Good Guys, 5-3.  Now we are off until Noon on Saturday.  Go Golden Eagles!

ORU showed a lot of grit by grinding out these last two games....close ones that could have gone either way late....but now we are one win away from an NCAA bid....NDSU and SDSU will need 3 wins and its unlikely either team has the pitching depth to accomplish that feat. These are the kind of games a team must win to advance in post season play...small ball and good pitching.... TheEagleman is proud of Folmar and the boys....:oru-logo:

Arguably ORU's best pitcher right now Ausua vs. the 4th starter for NDSU or SDSU on Saturday....those teams have to play Friday night...hope that game goes 16 innings......TheEagleman likes our chances....:-P

TheEagleman is wondering why ORU was the "visiting team" last night. Seems to me that the top seed should earn home honors....it just seems only right. That's why you play to win the regular season title. This coin flip stuff is BS...:geek:

I agree!!  The only time we should be visitors is if a second game on Sat is needed.

How do other leagues do it?

I heard there is a somewhat complicated Summit League rule for determining the home vs. road team designation beyond the 1st 2 games where initial seeding determines the home team.  I have not yet researched that to verify it.

TheEagleman thinks the current system is unfair....we play 30 games for tournament seeding....the better seed should be the home team in every game. That's earned by regular season performance....its a huge advantage to be the home team....this needs to be reviewed....:!:
