ORU82
Remember, Oral told us to "Go into everyman's world." Maybe even make a buck or two along the way. JK!

In today's world of 24/7/365 scrutiny via social media, one must consider every possible angle where your brand might be misconstrued. It just got me to thinking about appearances. I know ORU has played in hotel ballrooms before at holiday exempt tournaments; and I know ORU annually stayed in hotels on the Vegas strip when playing road games against Southern Utah in the Mid-Con. But, this is the first time I can recall ORU actually playing a game in a big Vegas casino. Not sure if it's a good thing, or a bad thing. Might just be a "thing"... ORUJason
The MGM Arena is mainly accessed through the MGM casino, but it is not a glorified ballroom. It seats over 17,000 people. I saw the Eagles there 10+ years ago. That will be a cool venue, especially if there are a lot of fans there.

Eagles as in "ORU Golden Eagles", or Eagles as in "Life In The Fast Lane" Eagles?
ORUJason
Eagles as in "Life in the Fast Lane" and "Take it Easy", something I hope this new men's basketball coaching staff is not doing.
ORUParentLurker
Does the MGM have a sports book? I may be taking the Golden Eagles and points.

Yeah, with Scott Sutton "Already Gone", it's hard to get "A Peaceful Easy Feeling" considering Paul Mills is "The New Kid In Town". I suppose that "One Of These Nights" this season we will see if the change was the best move in "The Long Run", or if it was all just "Wasted Time". Old Titan
Looks very manageable (unlike last year)
Old Titan
I don't remember seeing this game confirmed previously; this excerpt is from the ORU season ticket package cover letter: "Our schedule includes familiar opponents like...non-conference foe Missouri State..." ORU lost to the Bears in Springfield last December, so I would assume the game this season would be at the Mabee Center. That's always a good match-up... ...as long as the power is on. Old Titan
As P5's and mid-majors across the land announce their non-conference schedules, it's time for my annual rant re: ORU typically being one of the last to do so, and how I think that affects season ticket sales. Rather than re-type virtually the same observations as in past years, I'm simply choosing to post a screen shot of last season's tirade, since it all still applies: (click the image to magnify)
ORUParentLurker
This year there are definitely some extenuating circumstances with UIPUI going off the schedule. There is a 10 day gap during conference season where I'm sure we want to have at least one game added. That being said, I predict the home schedule to be underwhelming this year. This issue is Mills wants more home games but nobody good will come here. Its funny because he probably has to go recruit opponents. Sell them on the program just like he's selling recruits. ORUParentLurker
BTW, I was curious so I looked up a half dozen programs who I heard we might be playing this season. None of them have their schedules out. Many have partial schedules released, mostly the conference games. Just like us.

(LOL). Like I said in my previous post, I "get" that times have changed in regards to scheduling. But I also see a crisis in terms of college basketball attendance, particularly among mid-majors, and I ask myself: could the two factors be linked? Is historically-low attendance at college basketball due in part to lower season ticket sales, AND are season ticket sales lower now because the available window to properly promote them has shrunk due to schedules being finalized so late that the school year has started? ORU82
I just saw a piece out of Springfield, Mo. that has us playing at MSU on December 14. So, my unofficial non-conference schedule looks like this so far: November 10 Avila University December 2 @ UALR November 13 @ Tulsa December 5 @ UNLV November 16 @ Oklahoma State December 14 @ Missouri State November 20 Montana @ Malibu, California December 16 @ FGCU November 21 Pepperdine/UCSB @ Malibu, California December 21 @ Minnesota November 24 @ Penn State November 27 Oakland University November 29 @ Kansas State Updated on 8/17/
Old Titan
Geez, ORU really needed Missouri State as a home game - doesn't seem right that it's back-to-back in Springfield the past two seasons.
theeagleman5
Maybe the university is just trying to save money.....ORU won't need home uniforms this season......
ORU82
I agree OT, I thought Missouri State would have been at Mabee. Granted, everything I posted about our non-conference schedule is from 3rd hand sources and is therefore unofficial, but I could only find 2 home games. Hopefully there are more to come.
