Very disappointing weekend for ORU....1 run in two games...sounds like we got good pitching today but again nothing offensively...11 hits....10 LOB...just couldn't get the big hit.....we finish 38-21....oh well...TheEagleman is running out of years to keep saying "wait til next year".....:(

TCU beats ASU last night, 8-1 to advance to the Super Regionals......ASU had eliminated Gonzaga earlier in the day......also, OSU upset host Clemson  twice to move to the next round and Dallas Baptist beat host Texas Tech last night to force a deciding game tonight in Lubbock.....

This was not one of ORU's better teams of late - very impressed they managed to come back through the loser's bracket to win the Summit League championship against a very decent IPFW squad.

Plenty of quality personnel back for next year, plus ORU gets to host the conference tournament again - just need to get some better pitching on Friday nights and shore up the defense "up the middle" (catcher, 2B, SS, and CF), resulting in more wins and avoiding that dreaded #4 Seed in the NCAA regionals!

Yeah, TheEagleman has to say that our pitching wasn't that great this season especially our starters....rarely did ORU get more than 5 or 6 innings from the starters except for that 9 inning gem by McMinn in the IPFW elimination game.....I watched most of the game on Friday night and while Bryce Howe battled he was clearly not an "ace type" guy....we need one of those....haven't had one since Gonzalez.....the MLB amateur draft starts later this week.....will any of ORU's players be drafted???....:eagles:

DBU eliminated yesterday by Texas Tech....so it will be the Red Raiders vs. Texas A&M in the Super Regional....Rice beat LSU last night so they have a final game today to decide the winner of the Shreveport Regional.....B)

  • 4 weeks later...

So we have Coastal Carolina vs. Arizona in the deciding game of the CWS this afternoon in Omaha....they have split the first 2 games and CCU has their ace going today because of last nights' rain out.....the school from just outside Myrtle Beach, SC isn't much bigger than ORU and plays in the Big South Conference with schools such as Liberty U......amazing if the Chanticleers can win this thing....it would be one of the great stories in CWS history......:o

Coastal Carolina wins the CWS with a 4-3 win over Arizona in the deciding game....the contested ended with the Wildcats having the tying and winning runs in scoring position in the bottom of the 9th but the Chanticleer hurler was able to get the game ending K to send the Coastal players into delirium.......The small school from Myrtle Beach went 6-2 during the almost two week long CWS including a pair of wins over TCU last weekend....chalk one up for the little guys!.....
