This series actually starts this afternoon in Omaha....all the Summit series will be Thurs-Sat this week due to the Tournament beginning next Wednesday in Tulsa....we have a 7 game win streak going so it would be nice to stay on that roll heading to the post season.....the Golden Eagles are playing their best baseball of the season.....GO BLUE!!!....:eagles:

It's all about momentum at the end of a season. Let's get a few more wins this weekend to bolster our tournament resume!

Does anyone have an injury update? Besides Matt Whatley, how is our health looking? And does anyone have an update on Matt? Would love to see him get a few games in before the tournament. We need his bat back in the lineup.

Bryce Howe got hammered today....in 3.2 innings he gave up 8 hits....6 runs and had 4 WP.......not a good final outing.....TheEagleman again asks if maybe we should be going with Cale Tims as our game #1 starter in the playoffs......I guess we will have to wait and see what the match ups are....but today not a good day for Howe....ORU now trailing, 7-4 in the 5th inning.....

can't really blame Howe.  he's a solid college arm; he's not an ace.  i hope they found a friday night starter in this year's recruiting class.

ALUM....you don't like Tims?.....he has had a good year....but TheEagleman  hasn't seen him in action....he's only a sophomore.....

i'm don't know about Tims, i hope you are right.

not sure they have a guy currently on staff that can roll out 7-9 innings, 7-10 punchouts, and give up 3 or less runs consistently on friday nights in league play.

we won't go back to Gonzalez who is a once in a decade or two type player at ORU.  just look at last year's team.  there is no Trujillo or Altamirano among the starting rotation.  they are young and have had some injuries and may well develop into those type players, but they are not there yet.

it's why, IF they make the tournament this year, i believe they go 2 and BBQ again.

finding a JuCo starter that can plug right into friday nights in the Summit League should be a top priority.  of course, those guys are in short supply and everyone else is trying to land them.

Yeah...I hear ya......doubtful ORU would win more than one game in the NCAA tournament this year if we win the Summit League next week.....our pitching just not good enough and we don't have a hammer or two in the rotation....we ended up losing that opener yesterday at Omaha....10-4.....speaking of Chi-Chi Gonzalez....he's back in AAA this year and struggling at 1-4 with a 6.12 ERA. He seems to have regressed from a year ago when he got off to such a great start for the Rangers....

Cale Tims didn't get the job done today....not an awful outing but he gave up 5 hits and 3 runs to take to loss in the series finale....Grant Gaze came in and threw kerosene on the fire giving up 4 more runs in one inning....ORU falls, 11-5 and we finish the regular season at 34-18.....we will open play in the Summit Tournament next Wednesday night at JLJ vs. #4 seed South Dakota State.....the first game of the tournament will be in the afternoon #2 Omaha vs. #3 IPFW......:eagles:
