theeagleman5
ORU wins 2 of 3 over the Mastadons at JLJ this weekend but once again lose the opening game of the series at home to a winless Summit Team....how does that happen with our supposed ace on the mound?.....a 6-3 loss.....but at least we rebounded to get game two 5-2 and today a 15-0 rout.....ORU now 13-10 overall....4-2 in league play.... When ORU beats MSU and Oklahoma but lose to IPFW and SDSU it does absolutely nothing for the RPI. Gotta win the easy ones. Gotta help out your Friday night guy. TrueBlue82
Baseball is a funny game - and the variables from one game to the next can be dramatic. That's why winning 70-80% of your games against ANY list of opponents is an impressive record. No better example: In the early 70's, ORU pitchers threw a no-hitter enroute to a 26-0 thrashing of Bethany Nazarene. For years (and maybe still) the game held the record as the largest margin of victory in ORU baseball history. The rest of the story? The Titans lost the second game of the doubleheader. Crazy game. More concerning than the RPI impact, the Friday night home losses are hurting us in the standings, to the point where we could win the series (4 of 6) against Omaha this year and still fall short in the regular season standings. We do NOT want to lose our home field advantage for the tourney in 2017.
