ORU82
If we can "win out" in the Tourney we will go to the NCAA Regional via an automatic bid and a 41-14 record. If we lose in the championship game of the Tourney we could have a 41-16 record assuming 3 wins and 2 losses. That still may get us an "at-large" bid, but I would not want to chance it unless we put ourselves in that position. If we "win out", we will play on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. GO GOLDEN EAGLES!
Old Titan
Chamber-of-Commerce-like weather forecast for good ol' Sioux Falls on Wednesday: temperatures in the 40's at game time, with a 50% chance of rain. Awarding the conference tournament to the regular season champion in a league with only one warm-weather campus is just plain stupid. The minor league team in Sioux Falls hasn't even held their home opener yet - they're just now in spring training! If you're not going to hold the baseball tournament in Tulsa every year, at least hold it some place warm, attendance be damned. It's not fair to any of the participants to play the games on permafrost, and I doubt the event stands to make that much money wherever it's held. Schools are all out, so it's just going to be family members, hard-core fans, and curious locals anyway, anywhere. Golf does it right: the Summit League tournament a couple of weeks ago was played in California...
ORU82
OT, I was thinking the same thing. This morning's national weather forecast is calling for snow in northwestern North Dakota tonight. I realize Sioux Falls is southeast from there, but still there has to be a warmer location for the Tourney. Outside of SDSU, all of the other teams (NDSU, IPFW and ORU) all have some serious travel to get there, so what makes the difference if it is moved south? jackit
Old Titan whining about something? Color me shocked. The weather will be fine.

Old Titan
The weather will be fine. "I'd keep playing. theeagleman5
Looks like the weather will be improving in Sioux Falls as the week goes on......morning showers tomorrow with temps in the upper 50's......then sunny and 70 on both Thursday and Friday.....Saturday will be about 65 with some late day T-showers.....so it could be worse....TheEagleman is expecting ORU to win this thing....I respect the host team SDSU with their 32-21 record but ORU is clearly the better team at 38-14 and we have some big wins under our belt.....hoping that ORU is motivated for some revenge after losing the last series to SDSU in Tulsa.....Let's go BLUE!.... theeagleman5
Looks like SDSU is well on their way to a winners bracket matchup with ORU on Thursday night.....the Jacks lead IPFW 7-0 and still batting in the 4th.....of course, ORU beat NDSU this afternoon so the Bison would play the Mastodons in an elimination tomorrow afternoon..... theeagleman5
SDSU has defeated IPFW tonight, 7-3....so ORU plays the Jacks tomorrow night and NDSU vs. IPFW in the elimination game prior.....we need Altimirano to come up huge.....some runs would be nice also.....TheEagleman has no nails left to bite.... theeagleman5
IPFW is in the process of eliminating NDSU today.....it's 10-1 Mastadons thru five innings of play.....so unless something unusual happens over the last four innings....the loser tonight will draw IPFW in the elimination game Friday night.... Old Titan
After giving up 3 runs with two out in the bottom of the ninth, IPFW hangs on for a 6-5 win to advance to Saturday's noon championship game with ORU. With the tying run at second, a freshman came on for IPFW and ended the game with a wicked breaking ball for a swinging strike out. Good stuff! theeagleman5
So much for the host Jacks playing us tomorrow....SDSU is gone....and ORU will play IPFW.....one more win and we can enjoy the NCAA Selection Show on Memorial Day......GO BLUE!!!...
