IMHO Ashton Smith should have received a lot more playing time. He would have helped with post defense, rebounding and putbacks. Amboree could have spelled McBride and Kareem, but those minutes would have probably gone to Miller instead. I do agree that this next year Amboree might have received a lot more playing time but we do not know what types of conversations coaches may have had with some of these players about their scholarship status for next year.

Chemistry is a huge part of the team. My hope is that they can find players that fit in. I'm sure it is HARD to know this. Players can say whatever to get recruited, but they may not be that person. Kind of like a job interview. We all need to be praying that the right players come to ORU!

I can see Issac going pro in Europe or pursuing something else. He is 23 and on his 3rd school, he may be over it! Also, respectfully, what did you see this year that gives you the impression Springmann is more defensive minded than Mills? .

In addition, Coach Musick has received a contract extension.

Newflash....we AIN'T LSU!!!...lol.....still it's embarrassing to lose 3 at home to SDSU...just thinking that's never happened with any Summit team.....TheEagleman does NOT expect a CWS appearance or even a Regional win every season but dang it ORU MUST win the Summit EVERY YEAR....The Summit is one of the lowest rated D-1 baseball conferences in the nation...it stinks....the Dakota teams can't even play home games until April.....and also...not expecting us to whip OSU, OU and Arkansas every year but hey we need to be beating Evansville and competitive with Wichita St and others of that ilk......understood ORU has lost a ton of talent from the 2023 squad but is the cupboard that bare already??....thought we had some really good portal transfers and pitchers ready to step in...apparently not.....sorry but this is just NOT ACCEPTABLE at ORU and not what we have come to expect.....not expecting 50 wins a year and not even 40....but above .500 and Summit League Champs ALL THE TIME..THEEAGLEMAN IS NOT HAPPY!!!...not at all...sorry to vent but i know most of you agree and the ones that don't are just in denial...admit it!

It is that time again: nothing beats March Madness in sports! It is hard to predict who will be the upsets or go to the final four but here are a few thoughts. 1. UConn looks as good as last year and should repeat. I am usually wrong so that is why I am picking the Huskies, hope they lose and we have a new champion. 2. I am picking Samford to beat Kansas and NC State to beat Texas Tech as two upset specials. Both Kansas and Texas Tech are beat up right now. 3. Kentucky, UConn, UNC, and Texas will be in the Final Four. I have got to go with Max to make it to Phoenix!

So if my count is correct there are 7 players so far who will not return next year. They are Trey Phipps, Cam Amboree, Ashton Smith, Jalen Bedford, Eli Lawrence and the 2 lost to graduation Kareem Thompson and DJ Weaver. Will Isaac McBride stay or leave? Who else on the squad will enter the portal or be asked to leave? If only the 7 end up leaving, which likely more will leave, that is a hefty roster to replace. I personally am excited as this year’s team didn’t get the job done so it will be exciting to see who HCRS brings in. HCRS seems to be more defensive minded than Mills so I can envision him bringing in players who are tough defenders and enough shooters to make us competitive. This season he didn’t have players that wanted to play tough D. I really feel like we have a winner in HCRS who will get the job done!

I am hopeful for the portal, but outside of Issac I’m struggling to remember a solid transfer who’s stayed recently. For every Issac, there’s been some transfers that haven’t quite been able to produce(or get playing time). At the end of the day there still needs to be a level of coaching up and development that our staff is responsible for, or they’ll all just leave again next year. Here’s to Springmann and his staff stepping things up, bringing in but also keeping solid transfers.

1. Sounds like a lot of 2023-24 ORU players didn't appreciate being told they need to rebound, follow their shot and run the offense. 2. Sounds like the coaching staff is throwing lines into a lot of different ponds. Hope they land a few big fish that can do what I listed in #1. 3. Thanks to all who have posted updates.

TheEagleman loves Max and Texas but sorry they are not a #7 seed IMHO....again I guess it just speaks to the MEDIOCRITY in this entire NCAA Tournament....looks like the ENTIRE BIG 12 got in.....this is the type of year where almost any of 20-25 teams could win it maybe more....look at how many #1 conference seeds were defeated....the quality of D-1 basketball is so down as pointed out last week by Old Titan.....but it should make for an interesting March Madness...could be upsets galore in your brackets!!

I have come to the disappointing conclusion that NCAA Division 1 basketball as we now know it is a game with which I am frustratingly unfamiliar, both on and off the court. Hasty lumbago, friends… ✌
