  1. Just want to honor the seniors with some lasting memories of them: McBride: He has always been a scorer since day one but over time has improved in many areas: playmaking, defense, rebounding and leadership. My favorite memory is him bringing in 7'5 plastic man (you guys never get tired of that one) Connor Vanover. Trey: He is such a hard worker and gives his all when on the court. Trey hit some big 3s this year to help beat Tulsa and @Montanta State. If they ever have a remake of the movie Hooisers then he could be in it. Kareem: He is just a winner from the day he came to Tulsa. Often overlooked but always made winning plays. He was huge in the 2021 Summit League tournament that started the big run to the Sweet 16. DJ: The ironman of all ironmen. He has played in more games than anyone else in school history. It all started back in early November 2018 at Missouri State when he had 6 points and 3 blocks. DJ has been clutch with key 3s so many times: Florida in the tournament, @SDSU last year, and in the Mayor's Cup this year. With one more block DJ will become just the 4th player in school history to reach 150.

  2. The Baptists have an honor code too. Nothing but Aquafina for me at the ballpark tonight. Tim Johnson and Matt Moore are here. I told them the message board says hi.

  3. Back to baseball: the Baylor broadcast tonight on ESPN+ is PHENOMENAL. Great graphics, multiple camera angles, 2-man Baylor crew is knowledgable and EXTREMELY complimentary of the ORU program and skipper Ryan Folmar. The crowd mic is a little too loud, but that's a small gripe. A recording of this game should be required study for the ORU students (and their advisor?) producing the Golden Eagles telecasts.

  4. Well that just doesn't make sense. Then how did the crowd know the lyrics?

  5. Lone Star may be "The National Beer of Texas", but I'll take a Shiner Bock from the Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner, TX any day of the week, and twice on Sundays. And, from the sound of the yardbirds bleeding through on the field mic of the Baylor broadcast on ESPN+, I would guess that more than a few Bears fans in attendance have been enjoying one of those brands tonight. Which reminds me of a joke... Jews don't recognize Jesus as the Messiah. Protestants don't recognize the pope as the head of the church. and Baptists don't recognize each other in the liquor store on a Friday night.

  6. Hey, speaking of streaming bat-&-ball games on ESPN+, today I've been watching OU's women host Miami (Ohio) and Liberty in a doubleheader in their sparkling new softball stadium. During the middle of the 5th inning in both contests, they played "Sweet Caroline" by Neil Diamond, just like the Boston Red Sox started years ago. The fans sang along boisterously during the refrain. The PA announcer did not. It was a beautiful thing... #justsayin

  7. First of all, I am with you all the way on Shiner over Lone Star. My father liked to say “whenever you find 4 Baptists you’ll always find a fifth.”

  9. I too watched the game last night on ESPN+ and OT is spot on in his analysis of the broadcast. Very professional and the broadcast team was both extremely knowledgeable and very complimentary. The graphics and number of camera angles/shots were also impressive. Finally, it was nice to be able to tune into and watch a game which was easily accessible to the entire nation/world instead of having to pay a bush league local company in the Dakotas for the privilege of watching.

  10. Some of those were seeing eye grounders but, in general, I don’t disagree with your assessment. Coach stuck with Hall a bit too long and I have witnesses that I said so at the time.

  11. LOL - for some reason I read that as "Aqua Velva", and I was convinced you needed an intervention.

  12. Yeah, I dreamed that despite returning 2 decorated starters and the talented sixth man from a 30-win team that went undefeated in conference play, ORU plummeted to just over a half-dozen D1 wins and the bottom of the Summit League standings the following season. Thankfully, it was just a bad dream. Wasn't it??

  13. Just for fun: I had a dream last night where DJ had a big game vs KC. He blocked a shot in one scene, stole the ball and then scored the winning layup. I cannot remember ever dreaming about ORU basketball, so this was a first. Has anyone else ever had a dream about ORU basketball?

  14. Brutal 6th inning, giving up 7 runs on a seemingly never-ending stream of extra-base hits and shoddy fielding. 9-2 Bears, top of the 7th.

  15. They came up with a new way to get students to the game. Those who come and sit in the student section will each receive $10 in Sodexo bucks (which can be used for food purchases in all of the campus eateries). And of course, Sunday is the ever-popular Diaper Derby!!!!

  16. Commissioner Hockey loves to talk about the fan experience. My experience was better when I watched most games for free. If I have to pay to watch, my experience would be better if I paid for one service, ESPN+, and I got all conference games and most, if not all, non-conference games. What Commissioner Hockey is really worried about is the fan experience in the Dakotas.
