  1. Took advantage of perfect weather to take in today’s game. The big freshman starter failed to get out of the first inning, and the hitters started pressing as you might imagine after falling behind yet again before getting to bat. The good news is the new guys look the part, particularly in the field. Just need to get some quality innings out of the pitching staff while the hitters find their way. I have no idea how many games this team will ultimately win this season, but I would be willing to bet money they will eventually come around. Just a lot of moving parts right now with so many new faces on the pitching staff and in the batting order.

  2. Josh has a nagging issue that was going to keep him out of the first couple of weeks in the season. I would expect him to be the Sunday or mid-week starter when he is available.

  3. TheEagleman not trying to over react to a poor pitching effort in the first series....but was just a little surprised our starters and some bullpen guys got hammered at home in their first appearances.....totally recognize that it's a long season and this week could be a lot different....let's hope it is anyway because these early season games are RPI important due to the weak Summit Schedule in late March/April/May.....cant afford to drop back to back series to Evansville and SIUE at home....GO BLUE!!!

  4. If I am ever tempted to overreact early in this baseball season I promised myself I would remember how I felt after the DBU series last year and how I felt in Omaha. That should be enough to walk me off the ledge.

  5. He is averaging 35.1 minutes per game over the entire season. I think he might be physically and mentally wearing down.

  6. Max was shadowed closely by at least one person no matter where he went last night. If any team knew what Max was capable of, it was the team that lost out in the Max Abmas sweepstakes. They realized that the rest of the Longhorns were going to have to beat KSU, but they were not going to allow Max to get hot and/or be able to scrape off a screen to get an open look. He earned every point he made last night.

  9. No way that happens, barring some type of moral failure. It is very difficult to maintain a constant winning program with changes in coaches at the mid-major level. A review of the past four coaching changes bears this out. Of the last four coaches, Self, Hinson, Sutton, and Mills, only Hinson had a winning record in either of his first two years. I share the disappointment that many of you feel in the performance of this years team, however I am not ready to throw HCRS under the bus. I have to believe that it is a huge transition from being the assistant coach to being the head man. We saw this in the baseball program. If you were to go back and reread some old baseball threads, there were those who wanted to get rid of Folmar early in his tenure- which clearly would have been a mistake. HCRS is probably more disappointed in this season, than all of us together, but it will take time for him to make the program truly his. I believe that when this happens, we will all be members of the HCRS fan club.
