  1. Max hits #3,000 points tonight in the game with KSU. One of three D-1 players to have 3,000 points and 500 assists in NCAA history. Congratulations, Max!

  3. "Everyone"? Since when do I love the bright side?? And I may be The Prince of Darkness when it comes to ORU Athletics, but this is a polar opposite situation from my dire basketball outlooks the past few months. Basketball had solid starters returning but a weak recruiting class who have all failed to deliver under new managemant; Baseball lost practically everyone but enjoyed a stellar recruiting season and kept the band together on the coaching staff. Give those returning arms a chance to perform in something resembling baseball weather. It's February, for Pete's sake...it's a positive just to get three games in before a lot of schools are even able to practice outdoors.

  4. Yes indeed, congrats to Max!! Remembering the fun times not so long ago when Max was lighting things up at Mabee Center and putting a smile on the faces of a lot of Golden Eagle fans, including this one:

  5. We do have 2-3 solid players, but last I checked basketball is played with 5 players. One weak link is exposed, especially on defense. We've seen that several times this year. I don't think this year is a fair evaluation for HCRS since he got a late start recruiting HIS team (same with Paul Mills). We are lucky that Isaac and Kareem stayed. I'm praying for a strong finish and a great recruiting class!

  6. No, I was with you on this one! That's my reaction to those dudes bolting for greener pastures...

  8. There's a recruiting class??

  9. This poll misses one of the most obvious and my write in vote: Top 10 Pre-season & Final 8 last year but will probably miss the tourney at 16-9 overall, 5-7 in conference and in a 3-way tie for 9th! (with 6 games left including at Kansas, at TX tech and at Baylor) Texas!

  10. At the pregame meal on Saturday, Coach Patterson was asked about recruiting and he said: * ORU is recruiting the juco market for players * They are monitoring (in discussions with?) players who we recruited previously but went to other schools * Keeping tabs on the transfer portal and reviewing possible candidates * Looking at/for international players (he visited Europe & Israel last year); said they are fundamentally sound basketball players * Will look for high school players that have been missed by other schools, but the main focus is for 2025 HS players

  11. I feel the same way about meeting you TMH. I'm hoping we get to do it again this year!

  12. If I am ever tempted to overreact early in this baseball season I promised myself I would remember how I felt after the DBU series last year and how I felt in Omaha. That should be enough to walk me off the ledge.

  13. It would just be nice to hear at least ONE of them announce he's committed to ORU. And look, I know there's the whole "Oh, but we gotta keep it quiet, or else the other programs will come after him" philosophy, but frankly if that's the case, it really smacks of a lack of confidence in your culture and putting your class together, doesn't it? Would love to see just once something along the lines of "HECK YEAH, I'M GONNA BE A GOLDEN EAGLE...WHO'S WITH ME??"

  14. Max has a good chance to finish in the top 6-7 all time in scoring, depending on how far Texas goes in the tournament. He is also closing in on an old nemesis: Mike Daum from South Dakota State. It will be good to see him move past Daum! If Max had stayed another year then he would have been #1 at ORU.

  17. How different might this season have been had Mwamba and Conner not transferred chasing the dreams of NIL $$$...now they sit and waste away.....with empty bank accounts.....

  18. Thanks for that info Terry - we need a major juco/transfer year - get another Bedford quality and a Mwamba impact player at the minimum. Wonder how many HS players are getting left out due to all the schools having the same strategy, surely there's another max can't miss diamond out there for us to find. Expect a miracle

  19. When Holden Breeze is the only starting position player returning from last season, some growing pains can be expected.

  20. Utmost faith and confidence in Folmar/Neill/Davis/Turk. The fact they stayed put after last year's success is incredible; there's no doubt they will be getting the best they can out of this new roster just as soon as possible. Simply put: they've more than proved they know everything it takes to win.

  21. I don’t think anyone was expecting ORU to go undefeated again, compete for 1st place in the Summit, or make the tournament. Not being competitive or even fundamentally sound with a roster of players that have won in the past is something else.
