  1. Utmost faith and confidence in Folmar/Neill/Davis/Turk. The fact they stayed put after last year's success is incredible; there's no doubt they will be getting the best they can out of this new roster just as soon as possible. Simply put: they've more than proved they know everything it takes to win.

  2. At the pregame meal on Saturday, Coach Patterson was asked about recruiting and he said: * ORU is recruiting the juco market for players * They are monitoring (in discussions with?) players who we recruited previously but went to other schools * Keeping tabs on the transfer portal and reviewing possible candidates * Looking at/for international players (he visited Europe & Israel last year); said they are fundamentally sound basketball players * Will look for high school players that have been missed by other schools, but the main focus is for 2025 HS players

  3. When Holden Breeze is the only starting position player returning from last season, some growing pains can be expected.

  4. Max is still stuck at 2994 after that rough day at Houston...he still needs a measly 6 points tonight at home vs. Kansas State to hit the magic 3000 number. I think he will be the 12th male player to do it in D-1.....that's quite an accomplishment for any player let alone a guy who is 5'11"....TheEagleman will be watching on ESPN2...

  5. The most telling statistic from last night's game was not that we were out-rebounded (especially on the offensive end of the court) or that our three-point shooting was atrocious. It was that we had THREE assists!! Granted, if you don't make baskets, you don't get assists and our FG% was 36%, but I didn't see the "potential assists" from the passing of the ball to the open guy. I saw a lot of driving shot attempts into the lane with three guys bigger and taller than the ORU shooter. I saw a lot of driving with no shot to take, but the shot was taken anyway. These were shots taken by players that knew better but they didn't feel like they could feed the ball to someone that had a better opportunity. Not a lot of confidence amongst the players in each other right now. Something has to give here......

  6. Thanks for that info Terry - we need a major juco/transfer year - get another Bedford quality and a Mwamba impact player at the minimum. Wonder how many HS players are getting left out due to all the schools having the same strategy, surely there's another max can't miss diamond out there for us to find. Expect a miracle

  7. ORU heads to Omaha to take on the ORU north coaching staff. They have beaten the Mavs 13 out of 14 and 9 in a row, which is the Eagles best record vs any other Summit League team in that span. Any hope the streak continues? Or does the old saying go: nobody beats Omaha 10 times in a row!

  9. ORU scored a hefty 21 runs over the weekend...problem was our pitching gave up 31......

  10. The good guys lost the series but made it interesting in the end, losing 7-6 to the Purple Aces. Evansville was a very good team with some great hitters. Evansville's top player, Hug, was out of the lineup today as he injured himself swinging the bat on Friday and then more severely yesterday. Today, our pitching finally settled down after the first inning, but we will want to regroup from this and get our bearings now that we have played a series. Personally, I still have high hopes for this team, but it is brutal playing in 35 degree weather (which we may be doing when we reach the Dakotas later this spring).

  11. I'm sure many other coaches of less-than-impressive squads may be thinking the same thing: It gets worse... ...and even worse...

  12. Thanks, OT! I crown you "Historian par excellence" of the Sports Forum! It seems the Jacks coach might not be sure which sport his team is playing...

  13. It comes from baseball, in the early 1900's. A "dobber" (correct spelling) is the little button at the top of a ballcap. Legendary sportswriter Ring Lardner wrote of a professional baseball coach of that time who would encourage his players to "not let their dobber down" when things got tough (ie. don't hang your head).
