  1. Did You Know: ORU men's basketball and baseball, in regular season and post-season Summit League play, compiled a record of 47-1 this school year. That's it - that's the post.

  2. Both the Jackrabbits and Aztecs might be surprised to see that, according to ESPN, San Diego State will be facing ORU in the Summit League Finals today in Fargo, ND.

  3. This ORU team has been on a mission for the past month or more winning 17 straight games...hard to believe that they would come out flat or not ready to play....on the contrary....TheEagleman expects a well rested and motivated squad to take the field and bury the Jackrabbits today.....SDSU just doesn't have enough pitching and the Good Guys seem to be trying to prove a point this month.....unless some sort of strange events occur today ORU should be sitting in front of the TVs at Mabee Center on Monday watching the Selection Show.......Best ORU Baseball team that TheEagleman has seen since 2006.....GO BLUE!!!

  4. Such a relief to make it through the entire tournament without having to contend with those rabid Bison baseball fans. Dodged a real bullet there…

  6. Agree....no need for a dogpile and frankly they are dangerous......just shake hands and move on to the regionals.... TheEagleman can't wait for Monday to find out our draw....hopefully somewhere close by so ORU fans can make the trip.....this was a Summit Butt kicking by ORU.....26-1 on the season and this weekend 36-8 combined score....proud of this bunch of Golden Eagles!!! 46-11 BABY!!!!

  7. Does it look like tomorrow is going to be a bullpen game for the Bunnies? It appears they’ve used their three starting pitchers and all of them got a fair amount of work. I looked through the stats for their pitchers with the highest number of innings who haven’t started yet and all them have appearances of only 1-2 innings. Driessen seems to be there set up man. He has made two appearances so far in the tournament. He’s thrown 45 pitches but didn’t pitch Friday. Perhaps he’s there opener and they see how it goes from there. The Golden Eagles surely have the advantage here with Brooks Fowler rested and ready to take the mound. Our bats have been a little slow to get going in this tournament. I’d like to see us jump on the Bunnies pitching early and force Captain Hook to make multiple mound visits.

  8. Agreed Eagleman especially as the Bunnies go deeper and deeper into their bullpen. Their self inflected mistakes aren’t helping their cause either. Let’s finish this thing off and take the team to Golden Corral.

  9. If D1Baseball’s projections prove to be correct, college baseball will have some serious competitive issues. Yes, I acknowledge that the SEC and ACC are the top two conferences in the country, but are they SO significantly above the other leagues to warrant 12 out of 16 regional sites, and 7 of the top 8??? They would be setting up a scenario wherein it would be very plausible (if not likely) that we could see a CWS in Omaha with only SEC and ACC teams. While this might be great for the NCAA from a short-team financial perspective, there is a tipping point at which the “rich get richer” mentality eventually topples the entire competitive system - and college baseball is teetering very close to that line. I truly hope that the selection committee will see some benefit to spreading out the regional sites into a variety of conferences and geographies, and recognizes the value of a conference championship. This approach would bode well for Dallas Baptist, Campbell, and others - and the long-term vitality of college baseball as a whole.

  11. My first thought was "I installed the DBU baseball app on my smart TV. I wonder they will carry the game on their app." Then I saw that the Conference USA tournament is on ESPN+. What a concept? A mid major baseball conference on a national platform.

  12. Update: BA now has ORU as a 3 seed at Arkansas, with OSU as the 2 and St. Louis the 4. That would be a nice draw. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/2023-ncaa-baseball-tournament-projected-field-of-64/

  15. Things have leveled out in Fargo...after falling behind 2-0...ORU now up 7-3 in the 4th and should be on our way to double digit runs scored......TheEagleman doesn't think that the Jacks can score enough to keep up.....GO BLUE!!!

  16. So the Bunnies decide to start Bourassa who is probably the best arm that they have available. He hasn’t gone longer than 3.1 innings this year. He threw 20 pitches in the scoreless top of the first. Should be an active day in the San Diego bullpen unless Bourassa finds the ability to pitch 4 or 5 innings today.

  18. I get your point TB82, but the key word for me in your post is... competitive! IMHO if the non-P5's want to get the selection committee's attention they have to be competitive! If the projection is correct and Coastal Carolina and Indiana St are the only non-P5's regional host cites they better win some games and at least one of those regionals and winning both would go a long way; especially, if Dallas Baptist and Cambell, etc., can win some games or a regional! As for us, we have to win a game or 2, it's bad enough that we are saddled with the very poor performing Summit league, but if we want some national respect and higher seed consideration in the future, we have to be competitive in our regional. I'm praying our baseball postseason goes better than our basketball performance, because I'm afraid if we aren't competitive, it will make it very difficult for anyone from the Summit(us) in the future to get any kind of respect regarding seeding no matter what our win-loss record or conference championship. Let's get the win today Eagles and regardless of where they put us, go make some noise in the NCAA's!!

  19. Regional Hosting Update: Oklahoma State eliminates Oklahoma Friday night in the Big XII tournament, keeping the Cowboys hopes for hosting alive. Personally, still not ruling out Dallas Baptist, who play in the C-USA semifinals this afternoon, but the latest bracketology from D1 Baseball is like a broken record: ORU still a No. 4 in Stillwater.

  23. Perhaps it would help to consider the following: the Summit League does not truly have a broadcast or streaming deal of ANY kind with its member institutions. What it has is an agreement with a regional cable provider (MIDCO) to produce and broadcast the men's and women's basketball tournament in Sioux Falls, available to MIDCO subscribers within the MIDCO regional footprint, simulcast on ESPN+, and streaming from the Summit League website. And that's only through the semifinal games: MIDCO may (?) do the production for the men's and women's finals, but it's with ESPN graphics, announcers, advertisers, etc. And that's it! MIDCO also produces and broadcasts SDSU, USD and UND men's and women's basketball games during the regular season, but it's not part of any Summit League arrangement (at least I don't think it is), and it does not involve any other Summit League schools unless they happen to be playing (and typically, visiting) one of those three Dakota schools. These games are also available on ESPN+, but are behind a paywall on the MIDCO website for streaming. This exclusive SDSU/USD/UND arrangement explains why the MIDCO announcers seem so chummy with those programs (and clueless-bordering-on-antagonistic re: ORU) when tournament season rolls around. ORU is for all intents and purposes "the enemy" whenever appearing on MIDCO broadcasts vs. one of the Dakota "home teams". The league DOES stream some additional live championship competiton for free from its website (summitleague.org), but it's hit and miss each school year. For example, this week's baseball tournament stream is a simulcast of NDSU's broadcast partner WDAY's production, and that outfit is only producing the games this year because NDSU is the host. The games will not be broadcast or streamed on any of the ESPN platforms, unlike so many other conferences' postseason baseball tournaments. I'm guessing that if the conference is without a true deal again next year, the 2024 baseball tournament would be streamed on the ORU Sports Network, simulcast from the Summit League website, and once again be unavailable on any ESPN outlet. What the league needs here and now is a truly conference-wide, truly universal broadcast & streaming arrangement for all Tier One sports - with ANYONE (but preferably involving "The Worldwide Leader in Sports").

  24. He was in my thoughts this morning. Last night I watched President Roberts last message to ORU students. He expressed joy for all that ORU has been and hope for where the students would take ORU in today's world. Some things don't change. I had the opportunity to share meals and talk ministry in my capacity as director of the Christian Service Council. In the Spring of my sophomore year, I sat behind the President and his bride, as the ORU Titans bested the Louisville Cardinals in the NCAA Midwest semi-finals. He turned, grinning, with the flame cap on and said; Every man will read about this tomorrow morning, Tulsa will never be the same." With a sweet sixteen appearance, a perfect regular season and tourney win in a foreign land, and a baseball team that plays with passion--I think he would be proud. Paul tells us that we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses. Don't know more about the next realm than the next fellow, but I've got a feeling the Man is basking in glory with a smile on his face.
