  1. Stop all this nonsense. We are winning the Summit tournament. And I will be there to see it.

  2. One of my favorite plays at UMKC was when the UMKC guard beat Max off the dribble from the top of the key. In previous years, that would have been an almost guaranteed layup. This time, as soon as he got around Max, he was staring Conner in the face. He promptly turned right and headed back to the 3 point line. No stat for Connor but a huge save for ORU. that one was obvious but it seems to happen multiple times every game.

  6. The last two games, ORU has been as good as I have seen in 20 years, winning by 78 points. It is not too often that anybody wins Summit League games by an average of 39 points. It is hard to expect them to play that well through the rest of the season and into March but the Eagles have shown the ability to win on so/so nights. This is St. Thomas's biggest game since they joined D1. I would expect them to be fired up in front of their huge crowd of 1,800 tomorrow night but ORU should win by 10. Tommies are building a good team but they are still not quite there yet.

  7. I think you have taken the opponent with the points way too many times this season too. Good thing you can’t bet.

  8. Our stat crew obviously needs some training from the Memphis Grizzlies guy: https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/grizzlies-jaren-jackson-jr-stat-controversy-explained-reddit-sparks-discussion-with-betting-implications/

  9. My thought is sign him to a baseball scholly. Pitchers wouldn't be able to hit his strike zone and he'd have a 1000% on base percentage!

  11. This ORU squad is playing some of the best ball that TheEagleman has seen us play in the 21st century....and they know what they have to do which is win EVERY GAME...the poise and maturity on this team is clear .....I guess they could show up with a clunker at some point....but that just doesn't seem like it will happen and I don't expect them to do it tomorrow night in Minnesota.....St. Thomas??? Please.....now look....TheEagleman does admire how far this DIII team has come in just two seasons in the Summit and their home record is one to applaud....but we will be the best team by far to come into their 1800 seat gym which will be filled to overflowing for this contest.....yes I would expect the Tommies to be juiced for this one and they very well can be expected to hang around for 20-25 minutes.....but too much talent for the Golden Eagles and they can't stop Max and Vanover....ORU wears down St. Thomas in the 2nd half on the way to an 88-72 victory............... GO BLUE!!!

  13. Excellent point, OKC....TheEagleman has saved a lot of $$$ thanks to my giving up sports wagering....and i feel the weight of the world lifted from my shoulders.....now if any of you are thinking about placing a wager on the Super Bowl this Sunday and looking for some direction from TheEagleman....well, lets just say.....You all know where I stand on this upcoming game....and it shouldn't be very close.....

  14. That's a pretty awesome stat!! I think one of the big reasons for this is, as we've discussed on here before, this team doesn't let off the gas once they have a big lead. We've had SO MANY TEAMS that lack that killer instinct. This team, by all appearances, has it.

  15. That happened back in Morrison's senior year when ORU was 27-6 and 17-1 in conference play. They also had a couple of solid non-conference victories over Xavier and Texas Tech but ended up as 4 seed in the NIT, which is about 15 teams away from being selected in the Big Dance. The problem this year is that they do not have a real impressive non-conference win. Liberty was a good win but it will not move the committee to select ORU.

  16. You are correct. It was a MUCH better situation for all. However, the woke University administrations felt it more important for the ladies to have their "own stage". Of course, these are the same people that are all for dudes using the women's restroom, so...

  17. If Mills were EVER thinking about leaving ORU for a P5 job, this would be the year. His "stock" will never be higher.

  18. I think moving from the 35 second clock to a 30 second clock was the right move, but at the college level I don’t think the 24 second clock would allow for the full range of ball movement that makes college basketball so enjoyable to watch. I much prefer the college game to the NBA game style.

  19. I hate the way they schedule the men's and women's games. I have to chose between seeing the women's team play live or the livestream of the men's game. Doesn't it save travel costs to allow both teams to travel together? I liked when the women's games were before the men's games--I was much more likely to attend, especially on Saturdays.

  21. Scott's early coaching staff was not much unlike what we are experiencing with our current situation. A strong group of men that relied on each other's strengths and covered for their weaknesses. After the NCAA runs in the mid-2000's, I think that there was a continuity there that started to allow some (i.e., Corey to Florida State) to fly the coup and spread their wings. However, family is stronger than friends, and Sean needed a place to land. Although I believe everyone liked each other, the chemistry started to wane as OT states, the downturn in terms of on-court successes started to be seen with the loss of Tom Hankins (Scott's brother-in-law) and Conley Phipps. The departure of Scott was a disaster but he has always been a class act to those around the program and he was always a great and approachable guy off the court. I hope that time heals all wounds and Scott would find it in his heart to want to accept a level of gratitude from our fan base for his hard work through the years.

  22. Count me as another one who enjoyed a great relationship with Scott. He was always very approachable, as were his early assistants Tom Hankins, Corey Williams, Conley Phipps, and Steve Upshaw (who is still on staff and a great guy). But, I never did get to know the very private-bordering-on-anti-social Sean Sutton, and I'm convinced that Scott's career took its downturn in terms of his on-court success and his off-court relationship with the ORU administration when he brought his brother on board. It was ultimately Scott's dogged defense of Sean that resulted in the awkward and bitter dismissal of both.

  23. I was a bit too harsh with that comment - but Sutton not getting Meloy in that NCAA tournament game was pretty bad.
