  1. I am at ORU basketball camp with my 3 grandsons this week. The ORU players and Coaches are excellent with the kids ! My youngest grandson asked if we could rent Eli! I told Eli that and he loved it.They have such a genuine spirit and caring attitude. I have gotten to talk with all the players that are here. Sir Isaac Herron, Trey Phipps and Isaac Mc Bride look good. Elijah Lufille looks healthy and ready for a good season. It really is a family atmosphere here and so wonderful to see ORU thriving. Get ready for another great year!

  2. BOLD PREDICTION: "An NBA playoff team picking late in the first round is going to take a flyer on Max Abmas." I suggested back in February, before the postseason run, that Max getting drafted was perhaps more of a threat than him transferring to a bigger school. I basically got eye-rolls, not just on this forum but particularly from my friend the former professional coach, who is convinced Kevin Obanor is a better pro prospect. Maybe I'm wrong, but stuff like this has me convinced that some team (and, a good one) will be willing to roll the dice on him in the first round:

  3. Lee Mayberry and Conley Phipps are too old for this position on the current ORU staff. The proper candidate will be younger, a dynamic personality, someone who doesn't mind being on the road looking for "The Next Great Hidden Gem", while keeping after the current roster like a young dad/older brother. I'm betting it will be a former player at a major university and/or the pros, perhaps a name we are all familiar with from that period of his life, in his late 20's or early 30's. (...but don't think for a minute that I actually have any inside scoop on this hiring; this is merely summertime pie-in-the-sky speculation on my part)

  4. Congrats to Coach Solo on the head job at UAPB. They have struggled in recent years so he can help that program to improve in many ways. Not sure if he is allowed to move from the womens to mens team but Lee Mayberry would be a great assisstant to add to Coach Mills staff!

  5. Good programs lose their assistant coaches to better jobs. And for that very reason, they are able to hire even better assistants to take their place. Congratulations to Coach Bozeman on the new gig; very curious to see who will take his place on the ORU bench this coming season.
