I was there in ‘83. I remember being irritated with the Texas fans who were sitting in “our” usual seats behind the third base dugout. We liked to sit there so we could see our guys and talk smack to their guys. Not to be dissuaded we sat behind the paying customers in their burnt orange and still talked trash to the Longhorns. The discussion of McBride’s shooting style, etc reminds me of an exchange Derrick Harper had with a local writer when he was playing for the Mavericks. The writer was pressing Harper on his awkward shooting style and Harper said he was more interested in results rather than appearances. Then he said “For example I can see your notes and your handwriting is pretty sloppy but that doesn’t mean you can’t be a good writer.”
