...and buried in this release is a teaser for the big press conference Monday, and subsequent Tulsa World story on Tuesday: The ORU Board of Trustees also established that the building of a new athletic center shall be named in honor of Mike Carter. The new facility will be constructed next to the Mabee Center, part of a comprehensive retro-fitting of the Mabee Center. It will contain two regulation basketball courts, a 10,000 square foot strength and conditioning space, accommodate the ELI Academic Learning Center, team meeting rooms, and office space for athletic department staff.

In reality, if Jurgens didn’t pick up his 4th foul in the Arkansas game and have to sit out for a few minutes, ORU would have been playing Baylor in the Elite Eight.

One reason I think he might return this coming season has little to do with basketball: out of high school, Max was contemplating a four-year military academy degree, followed by the requisite four-year service commitment. It would be surprising to see him now leave college (where he obviously excels) after just two years, and right after his head coach just made his own eight-year commitment.
