  1. ORU's "shoot threes and ask questions later" style-of-play that I was so critical of earlier in the season (and last season as well) lends itself well to NCAA play, where defense in the lane is like an MMA fight. It's a lot easier to just shoot over all that mass of humanity in the paint, and if you manage to hit a few 3's, it spreads the defense and opens lanes to drive to the basket. Many of the so-called high majors go for size-over-shooting in recruiting and can not effectively run such an offense, and in tournament play are relegated to forcing shots from all over and hoping for the best on the offensive rebounds with their height advantage. Makes for very ugly TV viewing, to say the least.

  2. I have been teaching online classes for ORU for awhile in Pennsylvania so it feels like I never left! Hopefully, we'll get more online students, too! I've had many online students are from all around the world!

  3. Curious how the notoriety of the Sweet Sixteen run and the decline in COVID cases in Oklahoma might translate into elevated basketball camp attendance this summer, traditionally an important supplement to assistant coach compensation. So many unexpected benefits still to be derived from this historic chain of events, we won’t truly know the extent of the rewards for years to come.

  4. Eh. Maybe not. If OT is right about the schedule of OSU, TU, UTA, and they add another home date against a Wichita St., Missouri St., or the like, they might bump it up a bit? Although personally, I would be careful about bumping it too much.

  5. Got a kick tonight during the Baylor-Arkansas game doing a Twitter search for "Oral Roberts" and reading the dozens (hundreds?) of tweets from all over the country suggesting ORU would have given the Bears a better game tonight... Not sure I can honestly agree with those sentiments, but sure would have liked to see it, regardless! A mere sampling:

  6. I think Abmas could be a special player. He is a point guard that can score if needed. Seems to be a basketball player (not just an athlete, but a player that has a basketball mentality)... and we can use that. Mark Acres was arguably the highest ranked recruit we have ever had. Top 10 or 20?
