  3. From the clip: "...over the last 30 or 40 years, only 3 players to score over 25 ppg, shoot over 50% from 2, and over 40% from 3, before turning the age of 20. Thats Max Abmas, then Kevin Durant and Steph Curry."

  4. With the success and discussion in the other thread about Max, I started to feel as though Kevin was getting a bit snubbed. I also found it interesting that per OldTitans pro contact's, Kevin is apparently the more likely of the two to make it. Before this magical run, I would have dismissed the idea that he could potentially be drafted, but I think a major aspect of getting drafted, is exposure as well as proving that you are capable of making big plays in big moments. I also think his game and size is unique! If he continues to prove himself from the three point line, I gotta think that scouts will take notice, and he will hopefully start showing up on lists. All I know is I won't be the one to put a ceiling on what he is capable of achieving!

  5. I have yet to hear a reasonable explanation for how Abmas is pronounced ACE-mas. However, my family had an epiphany this weekend. During one of the Ohio State post-game interviews, Max was asked about the pronunciation of his last name. His explanation was that "the B is silent, and it's a German name". All of us watching looked at each other and thought "what does having German heritage have to do with AB becoming ACE"??? My son (the smart ORU Engineering alum and current OU medical school student) mentioned that the odd pronunciation might be related to the German letter "Eszett" (literally, the combination of the letters s and z), which is the only German letter not in the Latin alphabet. It is written as ß, which looks suspiciously similar to the standard letter B. It is commonly seen in Germany, as the word for street (Straße) includes an Eszett, so most street signs include the unique letter. So, back to Max... If his family name originally included an Eszett, is it possible that it was "revised" to a B when moving to America - as many foreigners adjusted their names when moving to the new world? And in that manner, the B could be pronounced as the Eszett "sz", which would make the phonetic pronunciation: Asz-mas. This theory is pure conjecture, but also seems quite plausible. Has anyone else heard a better explanation?

  6. Max should put his name in no matter what. I think they changed the rules so players can come back to school if they withdraw during the window now.

  7. Would also not be surprised to see Booker T's Bryce Thompson announce he's leaving Kansas after one year. Had to be a nightmare playing in Lawrence this year, and the NCAA may still lower the boom on that program.

  8. I think they are wanting to talk to someone still in the Sweet Sixteen: Porter Moser from Loyola, Eric Musselmann from Arkansas, Scott Drew, maybe even Greg McDermott from Creighton? Considering the ego of Hoosier Nation, they probably think they can pry Mark Few from Gonzaga, which is laughable. This sort of thing used to get worked out at the Final Four during the NABC coaches' convention, which is like the pilgrimage to Mecca for college basketball coaches. AD's and search firms would formally and/or informally interview prospective coaches in secure meeting rooms at out-of-the way hotels or the host city airport. Not sure you go about doing it now in a COVID world; probably a LOT of Facetime calls and Zoom meetings.

  9. What do we have to do to keep this guy? I'm already re-working my budget to to show financial support for the program.

  10. Why would Scott Drew leave Baylor for Indiana? Indiana hasn’t been a force in college basketball for quite a while, but their expectations will still be totally unrealistic. No thanks.

  11. I'd rather them keep Haith though.

  12. Coach Mills seems to have tremendous depth and insight. He is representing the name of Christ in such an honoring way! The prosperity gospel is not based on sound biblical principles and the world at large sees right thru it. The principles that Coach Mills talks about are time tested and true! I am so proud in every way right now to be an alum and fan!
