The Summit League may be down, as the League average RPI was 202 last year and the current Kenpom average is 221 (the new NET average is 242, but I'm not sold on the NET as a reasonable gauge - yet). Adding UND at 286 didn't help the average, but even taking them out of the equation the average ranking still drops by ten spots to 212. Sadly, even with a "down" conference, ORU is currently 9th of 9 in both the Kenpom and NET standings, so it may be an upward battle to even qualify for the Summit Tournament. That said, I am hopeful that this young team will continue to gel as the season progresses. And, IF (a big if) Kevin Obanor can return and stay healthy, the season results will dramatically improve. Obanor has only played more than 15 minutes in two games this season, and ORU is 1-1 in those games. Obanor, E-Man and Weaver are all very talented - we just need them all on the court for extended minutes.
