  1. We will play tough basketball. We will play fast basketball. The team liked that and then I told them how hard we are going to work to get conditioned to play that way. The 30 second shot clock will not be going off a whole lot. We will play united as a team. --- Coach Mills to Adam Hildebrandt in the baseball broadcast

  2. Love his response to the Drake question. To paraphrase: "We always listened to the clean (radio) version. What are you listening to?"

  3. Hoover also took a jab at Mills when he was running down his bio. He said something like --- "You played basketball at Southern Nazarene....it didn't work out there." ------- I also listened to the interview Mills did w/an urban station in Houston earlier. Best interview of the three I listened to. He was much more comfortable with those guys and had done interviews with them during his time at Baylor. Mills has personality for days (something Scott Sutton lacked a bit in). The moms are going to love the guy. It was a free flowing interview about the Houston hip hop scene, friendship w/ Paul Wall, WorldWide Wes, and other celebrities basketball has afforded him the opportunity to get to know. He has spoken with every ORU player's and signed recruits parents and everyone is on board to stay. (I assumed this is with the exception of Morgan and RJ Smith). Mills also plans in home visits with all during the recruiting dead period --- this is allowed. Asked about how recruiting will be different at ORU than Baylor. "Nothing -- no change." Baylor flourished with under the radar talent. 6 players to the NBA that were not top 100 recruits and Motley should make number 7 this year. The guy is making no little plans at ORU....to borrow a slogan.

  4. It's going to be weird, but assuming Spencer can earn some semi-regular playing time, Sean and uncle Scott are going to want to be there to support him, and rightfully so. I hope they (Scott & Sean) can get past what's happened and feel at home in the gold seats. That seems hard to imagine, but would they miss Spencer's games? Both scenarios seem strangely uncomfortable. I look forward to the day when the awkwardness is behind us. How about honoring Scott with "Scott Sutton Court" at the Mabee Center? Would that ever happen? Maybe not, but it would be a nice gesture and go a long way towards burying the hatchet...for all Scott has done for the program, I would support it. Bring Back the Flame! Rob

  5. Good interview by Mills and I'm glad he didn't really back off the music thing. That song was in a Sprite commercial. Who cares. What was that bumper music before the interview....The Rolling Stones? Has Hoover ever Googled some of their lyrics and how could he allow that kind of music on his show? For shame. Also, good answers by Mills to some pretty lazy questions regarding Mulkey and Briles. Hoover has a personality made for print. Shoulda kept his day job trolling Bob Stoops with all of his asinine "gotcha" questions at OU press conferences.

  6. The Hoover interview was garbage -- 20 minutes about rap lyrics and scandals at Baylor. The interview w/97.1 was much more informative and ORU focused.

  7. Listened to the show. He is well spoken and smooth. Asked about what coaching tree he comes from. Said Scott/Homer Drew. Also said that Rick Majerus had a big impact on him. Was the smartest coach he has ever been around. Asked about recruiting areas; Said the focus would be on Tulsa/Oklahoma and then Texas & Louisiana. He was asked about international recruiting - I guess since Drew has done that at Valpo/Baylor. Said he has traveled to Europe to scout players; knows guys (former players now with the NBA as scouts) with contacts. He was contacted by one asking what kind of players he needs. Said that ORU players can have tattoos. Specifically mentioned Harris. Said that the administration instituted that policy for about a 3 week period in the past and it was quickly rescinded. Said he called Sean and Scott after he got the job. Respects them and what they did at ORU. Told Sean that Spencer is still a part of the team and he will treated just like the other players. Said Sean was very gracious and gave him some advice. Knows that Scott wants what is best for the players because he cares for them. Wants ORU to succeed.

  8. Just watched the press conference. Can't help but be excited after that! Also, for as poorly as the firing was handled, the administration really seemed to do a good job with the hiring process. It seems like it was organized and efficient. There wasn't any embarrassing leaks about going after a candidate and being turned down or anything like that. Overall it seems like it was handled in a first class way and that they got the right guy. I'm really excited about the direction of the program. Can't wait to see the staff he puts together and the product on the court!

  9. this facebook clip has an extra minute and a half than what was posted on twitter a couple days ago... like others said above, if he wins w/Sutton players, i wonder what the excuses will be from "pistols firing" OK sports media.
