Eagles drop game two in Alabama, falling to East Carolina 4-2. Bowen pitches well, but an unearned run and a three run rally by the Pirates (walk, single, double, single - all with two outs) sends Bowen to his first loss. Eagles recorded ten hits, but missed many opportunities to score, stranding runners at third in at least three innings. Cam Schiller hit his third HR of the two-game weekend, and was at the plate in the ninth with two outs and two runners on, but his drive was caught near the warning stripe.
ORU's record stands at 6-7, but don't give up on this team yet. Bowen and a healthy Gonzalez can hang with anyone, the infield defense may be among the best in school history, and the bats should come around. The Summit is down this year (if that is possible), but ORU is the kind of team that no #1 seed will want to face in the NCAA tourney.
Sunday afternoon, the Eagles finish the Classic facing host Alabama.
