ORUalum
...based purely on base salary...but a pay raise may be in order... NCAA Basketball Coach Salaries & More! We've previously reported on the exorbitant salaries paid to some NCAA basketball coaches, including the $7 million Michigan State paid Tom Izzo last year. Now Work Life Wizard has taken the data about coaching salaries -- reported by USA Today -- and put it into a handy chart showing how much each coach earned per win this season. The chart isn't perfect -- it seems to use only base salary, not bonuses, and it's got the wrong coach listed for Nevada -- but it provides some interesting insights. For instance, Jim Calhoun of Connecticut made $1.5 million and finished just three games over .500, which made him the most overpaid coach in the country this season. Maybe that's why Calhoun is overhauling his roster. Other notes: Mike McConathy of Northwestern State is college basketball's lowest-paid coach, at $104,300 a year. Scott Sutton of Oral Roberts made just over $5,000 a win this season, making him the lowest-paid on a per-win basis: His team went 23-10, and his salary was $115,870. Finally, Jeff Ruland of Iona made more money per win than any other coach: He managed $176,497 a win, thanks to a $352,994 annual salary and a 2-28 record. Hey, Iona athletic department: I'd be willing to coach your team for half of what you're paying Ruland, and I'll bet I can manage two wins a season. link
Gold*
Possibly tax returns, although there are some questions as to whether that method works. I know someone tried that with Kragthorpe, but the number was off some.
